I used Starving Students to move my son into his new apartment. They were on time, professional, wrapped every item with care and handled the move in less time than they quoted! Moving can be such a stressful experience and these guys made the move seamless and totally stress free! I give them the highest recommendation and would absolutely hire them again!

I moved back to California recently from the Midwest and needed someone to unload the pods. Moving and unpacking might be my least favorite things in the world but Starving Students made it painless. From start to finish I enjoyed working with them. Polite, hard working and priced right. You can't go wrong.

I've had to move countless times, so I understand the challenges and stress involved. I wasn't looking forward to my move from Las Vegas, NV to Los Angeles, CA. Starving Students made this process, which I normally hate, enjoyable and relaxing so I could focus on getting settled in my new home. They were respectful, quick, informative, and very knowledgeable about making my move and packing simpler. I definitely recommend this moving company to anyone preparing for a move.

My fiance and I just relocated from NY to LA for his new job position and it all happened so quickly that to say I was stressed was an understatement. A friend of mine told me about SS Movers so I decided to give them a try. From start to finish they made the entire process easy and stress free and answered every question & concern that I had. I would highly recommend this company if you're planning on moving!

Move Went Great!

I scheduled a move from Los Angeles to Norwalk California this past week and I was definitely nervous. I had tons of questions and they walked me through every step, confirmed my move date and time, and were very professional. The guys that showed up obviously knew what they were doing, gave me time estimates that I had requested and were very careful with my super heavy furniture and oh my god the stairs they had to climb. Great job guys! WIll be telling my friends!

Hidden charges.

The manager told me one price and when I got my bill..I had so many hidden charges on my bill. I even had to pay the mover's workmen's comp fees. I knew of the negative ratings, but had to move right away and they were accommodating with my time schedule. The men were young, but very nice and did the best they could. I am mainly dissatisfied with the charges. It was over $100 more than they stated due to hidden fees. Starving Students moved me from Los Angeles back in 1995 and were excellent movers. I do not know what has happened to their business ethics. I will not use them again because of their hidden fees. Some reading these negative reviews will still use their services. It could turn out great for the next guy..but the chances are not in their favor.

This is a horrible moving company NOT RELIABLE.

Starving student movers is the absolute worst moving company..Do not use! I had a move "Scheduled" by them on 9/4/16. As I was waiting at the storage unit no one showed up! I and my 4-year-old waited at the storage unit for 45 minutes only to discover that starving students did not do their job! I called starving students and "Anthony" at first was helpful and then completely unhelpful. He gave me the number of the discount movers that they had contracted to do my move. When I contacted discount movers, they said that student movers never sent them the confirmation paperwork needed to confirm my move! I call Anthony back to tell him this and he proceeds to tell me discount movers is lying, that student movers has "Numerous emails" verifying that the confirmation was sent and that he would email me that information (after I demanded that proof). Well.. It is 9/22/16 and I have yet to receive any emails from student movers verifying that they did their job. (I believe that helps to show who the "Liars" are!) on the other hand, discount movers were extremely helpful when I worked with them directly and rescheduled my move to the following Friday. When I told Anthony about how this was an extreme inconvenience as I would have to take off work, he said: "Don't you know anyone 18 years of older that can be there for you?". Seriously? This is student movers customer service? No offer of any discount, refund, assistance. Nothing! On 9/15/16 I called student movers and asked to speak to the manager who I was told was a Tyler. I left a message on tyler's voice mail requesting a callback and copies of the emails I was promised. As of today - a week later - not only have I not received the emails, I have not even received a return call. Student movers is horrible, liars, extremely…

Unprofessional and Uncaring.

I booked my move with starving students almost a month before my move date. The Friday before my 8 AM Saturday move I received an EMAIL at 5:15 PM stating that they were sorry for the inconvenience but they would not be able to move me as scheduled. I called the gentleman (I use this word very very loosely) who sent the email to make sure it was right. I was understandably upset, I had to move as my house was closing escrow and I had planned it plenty far in advance. This guy, Maurice, was extremely rude and continued to cut me off when I was talking and telling me not to yell. I let him know I was not yet yelling but was getting close. He stated they were not able to find a contractor for my area but that they had been trying really hard. What I want to know is, if they had been trying to find one then why didn't they let me know in advance there was a problem? Not after close of business day on the day before my weekend move when I would not be able to find another source for moving? If you hire starving students to move you I advise you line up a uhaul and a bunch of friends as a back-up plan because you are going to need it! That company sucks!

Starving Students Movers.

We hired Starving Students for a move of less than 10 miles in Sept., 2014. The movers complained immediately that they had not been told the size of our house, or the amount of content to be moved. One mover complained that he "was hungry" within 30 minutes of arriving. A light fixture was broken on the stairwell of the house we left, and we only discovered it a few days later No one mentioned the breakage to us. As we left the home we were vacating, the movers made it known that they "accept tips". So unprofessional! Lastly, and worst of all, the movers broke the bullnose off the hardwood stairs when they caught a piece of furniture on it and jammed it upwards. They did not tell us anything. Later, when we noticed the broken stair, and asked about it, one mover said that "he might know where the broken piece was". Might?! He had it hidden in the truck! I would NEVER use Starving Students again, nor would I let anyone that I care about use them either! Stay away---far away from this company!

30 days after pick up no delivery.

I have moved 1000 miles from my home. The moving company did not show up to move me on time. Wrong day. A tiny couple rolled out of a rental truck at 5 pm. 5 hours later the truck was too full to fit everything by ten at night I had no choice but to pay a junker to take the rest of my things. I'm still waiting since may 16 for my belongings. No one returns calls today they say I might get my things Monday or Tuesday next week, but they can't promise. That's June I am sick. Sleeping on a floor. Still. The starving student Vice President did not tell me they subcontract the jobs out. I feel lied to, disregarded and treated by starving students like I was a pest. Today I called every 30 minutes till they just went home.
