Get it seen, not guessed

Long-distance prices follow weight and volume. A price given in two minutes on the phone is a guess. Ask for a video or in-home survey.

  • Get at least three written estimates
  • Check each USDOT number is active
  • Ask whether the price is binding

Lock the price type

Binding means the price holds unless you add items. Non-binding can rise, but on an interstate move you pay no more than 110% of the estimate at delivery and the rest is billed later.

When the estimate changes

110%

The most a mover can collect at delivery on a non-binding interstate estimate (FMCSA rule).

Mile 1,000 · On the road

Know your delivery window

Long-distance loads often share a truck, so you get a window, not a day. Plan a few nights with the first-night box.

  • Get the driver's name and number at pickup
  • Photograph the inventory stickers
  • Keep valuables and papers with you

Check before you sign

Note any damage on the inventory sheet before the crew leaves. You have nine months to file a claim, but notes made on the day carry the most weight.

Before you get moving

A few good
questions.

Is Haulest a moving company?

No. Haulest is not a household-goods carrier. It provides moving tools, information, reviews, and a way to request a quote.

Can I use the tools without requesting a quote?

Yes. Explore the calculators, checklists, and guides at your own pace. Request a quote when you are ready to discuss the details of your move.

Is a calculator estimate the same as a moving quote?

No. A calculator gives you a starting point for planning. A mover's written estimate depends on your inventory, access, route, timing, and selected services.

Where do the mover reviews come from?

Reviews come from a dated archive. Haulest shows the source and publication date on that row so you can assess their context. Past reviews do not guarantee a future experience.
