Before the crew arrives

Hold the parking bay or cone the curb the building allowed.
Set HVAC so people can work. A sealed hot house slows the job.
Know the balance due and the accepted payment. Cash-only on the truck is a warning.
Clear hallways. Take doors off if the sofa needs it.

During the load

Match truck doors and uniforms to the company on the estimate.
Initial the inventory. Note existing damage in writing, not a shrug.
Point at the piano, safe, or TV. Silent specials become claims.
Keep passports, meds, jewellery, and the kettle bag in your own car.

At the new place

Label rooms on the door so boxes do not land in a pile called ‘later’.
Check high-value pieces before the truck leaves.
Do not sign that everything arrived perfect if you have not opened the bedrooms.
If something is missing, write it on the inventory before you wave them off.
