    Best Moving Company Around

I was skeptical to go with Gentle Movers after reading the views but then realized that some were from Florida and other states. I then realized that there are Gentle Movers with different logos in many there states. I went with Gentle Movers because they kept it simple - an hourly rate. They didn't give a estimate which , the way Aby put it, will increase if the move takes longer , BUT not if its shorter than expected. I liked that i can control the hours and do things to help speed up the process if i wanted to like prepack and line things up etc. The move ended up being a little move than i expected because there was traffic going one way into Cambridge but they went by GPS time for normal traffic and came down a little bit to adjust the hours. The movers were young and professional - IN UNIFORMS which was nice.

    Gentle Heroes.

I missed the whole show as I had to catch a plane to London. My sister phoned to tell me in every little detail of her move. According to her the movers were not only gentle they “were literally heroes”. I am sure she is exaggerating but the way they, she says, got the $10,000 gothic armoire out the window as if they were pulling the bow across the strings of a violin.  Just this act alone surely deserves a good review. She was worried about that one piece of furniture more than anything. I must say if anyone can make my sister happy, they can make any one happy - that I know very well. Three cheers to “gentle heroes” who saved my sister (and me as I was the one who recommended them to her at the first place).

For so many reasons, please DO NOT WORK with the Hyde Park office.

My company hired Gentle Movers to hoist a new fridge up to the second floor and bring down the old one. (For a client.) The angle and the space provided made it challenging. And I’m not negating that this was a difficult job. But how they handled it was disheartening, unprofessional, and extremely overwhelming. POOR COMMUNICATION - Despite numerous attempts at getting the contract before the move date, we did not receive it until I was on my way to the job - Contacted us at 3:00 pm to say they were 1 hour out but did not show up until approximately 5:30 because the movers were given a break. I sat for over for 1.5 hours waiting for them to show up. - Deposit and quote were for 2 hrs. When we asked the operation person how long, he said, “2 hrs or maybe a little over that”. I was never informed that because of the job difficulty, it would take anywhere near 4.5 hours. We went from being charged $900 to over $1800 with little conversation. LACK OF PREPARATION - Asked en route to the job if we wanted a 4th mover. We said no because no one ever said they needed the 4th mover to do the job! - 4th mover showed up anyway. But thankfully, he did because he ended up directing the whole job. No one else seemed to have the experience to figure out the logistics. - They took over 1.5 hrs to figure out how to do the job, which should have been something done before the day of the job. - We provided pictures and videos of the work area to ensure they had ample time to create a plan. We even asked if anything else was needed for the job, and the operations person, said no. CAVALIER WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY - It took as long as it did because only one person had the experience to do the job! I know this because I heard the workers talking about it. - why should we pay the same rate for the movers to figure out the logistics, as it doesn’t do the physical labor? ($339 per hour for three movers, per hour, shouldn’t be the same as one mover to figure out the logistics.) LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM - The movers were highly unprofessional. - Too much lag time. I assume that since only one person knew what to do, I paid for the remaining three individuals to stand around until they were told what to do. - Utilized the N-word many times while communicating with each other. And as a woman of color, it was extremely uncomfortable! I hesitated to say anything because I was apprehensive about the outcome with the four men. I needed the job completed, but no customer should ever feel like that! LACK SAFETY PRECAUTIONS - During the first leg of the hoist, one of the movers injured themselves. This caused an additional delay because they did not have a first aid kit, and I had to locate bandages for his hand. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - When I contacted them about the issues today, I was met with resistance to understanding my point of view. It boiled down to how long it took and that we signed a contract. But there were so many missteps, and they seemed fine with how this unfolded. There are so many other points that can be made, but I think this is enough to make the point. We have worked with various moving companies and have never experienced anything like this. And to be made to feel as if they did everything right is just maddening. Yes, they did the job, but is that all that matters? You be the judge.

Scammers! Revoked license twice. Operate under different names.

BE AWARE OF THESE THIEVES!! Gave me a “binding estimate” of $4520, charged me a deposit, then date of pick up (knowing I’d be out of the country), then raised the “binding estimate” to almost $11,000!! Note that I packed less than what I told them I’d be Packing, gave them measurements of boxes and furniture, but somehow their estimate went from 1340 cf to 2200!! They forced the person I left in the apartment when they picked up furniture to sign papers..I say forced bc he couldn’t get in touch with me (I was out of the country) and the apartment was due to be returned to owner. They had him sign a waiver of liability because they “ didn't pack the house goods” and the other charging over $1000 for packing the same house goods they said they claim to not have packed on waiver!! What’s worse they are now holding my belongings hostage. The “quality control manager” Thomas is a real jerk, clearly uneducated, rude, unprofessional and thief. This company’s license has been revoked twice, they operate under different names and locations..the company is registered to a personal residence in NJ in which two 60+ people live..,most likely not their address either. The phone numbers they use are registered in Vegas. SCAMMERS! THIEVES!!

    Gentle Movers/Furniture Wreckers.

FURNITURE WRECKERS more like it. After a simple internal move, this company wrecked a showpiece piece of furniture and made another one unusable.  We did not notice till shortly after they left, as we foolishly trusted the movers. When we rang, ahem, Gentle Movers to report the damage the response we got was “legally, there is nothing you can do about it”. After over a dozen calls and emails over nine weeks and no resolution we feel compelled to warn others about using extreme caution in contemplating using this company. Please warm all your colleagues, friends and family also, the treatment from this company is by far the WORST I have ever encountered.

    Criminals.

DO NOT USE. DO NOT USE. DO NOT USE. DO NOT USE.Criminals.. Driver told me the bill was $595 on top of $165 we had already paid. This involved driving time of 1.5 hour. 1) The came to our house for a pick up of a piano in another town.2) Called to argue the bill to which Avi told me to "Shut the f** up" and then warned me about foul language for saying that "you're trying to screw me on the bill".3) Had to ask the driver to leave the house because he knew he had tried to screw me on the bill and then started to get aggressive when I told him I was calling the office.4) They still ran my credit card without delivery signatures. We're disputing the charge and will push to small claims for sure. These guys are criminals end of story.DO NOT USE under any circumstances.

    Dishonest.

We used them 3 months ago to move stuff from the top floor to the basement for a renovation.  The guys moving our stuff were great hard working guys.  At the conclusion the office tried to charge us $100 more than our email quote.  It took 20 min on the phone and emails the next day to fix the situation.  This time to move the stuff back we called again and were quoted the same price for an hour of work and have it in writing.  When we called to confirm the date the next day the women on the phone said their policy changed and they now must charge us for travel time to and from the office which will be an additional $50.  We live a half mile from the office.  They said but it takes time at the light and we have to warm up our trucks.  It takes 3 minutes to get to our house.  When we asked to speak to a supervisor we were told no.  The movers were good the office is dishonest and tries to cheat you out of money.

Unethical - they will take you all the way to the bank!

We were quoted $174 for 3 movers, one hour of unloading help. They showed up 4 hours late (at 7 pm), and while one out of the two (yes only two came) did do some work - the other older, fatter one mostly sat around. We had done most of the heavy stuff ourselves before they got there because we were never sure if they would ever show up. Then, after an hour, they doubled the price because they claimed it was 2.5 hours of service - that the time started from the time they left their facility (so they were charging 1.5 hours of travel time, which is ridiculous - they are located in Hyde Park, this was a Chelsea unload, it takes like 15 minutes). When we argued, the older man started SHOUTING at us. Then the younger one said call their supervisor, and apparently he told them to have me sign the slip, mark "disputing," and we would work out the charges on Monday, but again, this guy was mad because he says he won't get paid. The person on the phone who quoted the price NEVER SAID the clock started from the time they left. Very shady company..
