   They did an excellent job for us. I forgot to tell them I had a long ladder in the garage to go and the truck was loaded so it wouldn't"t fit! The foreman delivered all the boxes and furniture then went back to get the ladder (it was only 5 miles away but). Great people easy to do business with.

   False Advertising and failure to provide services quoted

   I would not recommend them. We've moved 5 times in the last 12 years and decided to try a larger agent. We chose Allied who was serviced in our area by Marathon Moving. Their quote was almost double the next best company we trusted, however, given Allied's reputation and the services that were promised, we decided to give them a shot. While getting a quote Marathon was quite pleasant with them being very helpful in that stage. One of the major reasons we chose to use them over other movers because they promised to "Pad & protect your home including floors - walls - door jambs - etc.;" We were selling our house about a week after the move, so keeping everything in great shape was a priority. The day of the move they arrived about an hour later than the window they promised. They then started packing/loading without protecting the house at all. I asked about this and the crew manager said he had no idea what I was talking about. I then attempted to reach the two people at Marathon I had previously spoken to. I tried both their cells and office numbers and couldn't get through. The fact I wasn't given a contact number for the day of the move should there be issues was unacceptable. A few hours after my voicemails I received a call back, but by that point everything was already packed and on the truck and I was just signing final documents. They had scratched walls, furniture and the ceiling coming down from the staircase. While they were packing, they left a number of items from furniture they disassembled on window casings and countertops, luckily we saw them and asked what they were from. They said they they must have forgotten to pack them with the furniture and asked us to just hold onto them until the delivery of the items. The next day, we got a call from our driver from Allied stating that they would come pick up our items the next day, we informed them that they had already been picked up and they were quite confused. After discussion it seems like Marathon picked up the order themselves to make a bit more money. At delivery the same thing occurred, the quote stated: "Again fully pad & protect your residence including floors - walls - door jambs - etc.;" And once again, none of this was done. Once all our items were unloaded we had the misfortune of finding out that nearly every box that was marked fragile was crushed or damaged. We haven't made a claim yet, as the items are still adding up, but we have had quite a few broken items. My TV was also listed in three inventory in the quote as a 55"and we were charged for a box for that. Unfortunately, the box they used was not designed for a TV of that size and was just trapped into a box with the side of the TV sticking it the end wrapped in a ton of paper and tape. The TV arrived with scratches all over the exterior. I would not recommend Marathon. They didn't deliver on the many promises they made in their quote that convinced us to use them in the first place. Many of our boxes arrived damaged, and quite a few of our items in those boxes were broken. They over promised and under delivered and performed worse than a company we've used in the past that charged half as much.
