   Botched Move.

   Dealing with this company was a terrible experience. The mover did not complete the move. Instead, part way through, he said he had another job to do and would return in a day and a half. When he returned (later than promised), he insisted I pay him $4000 in cash and give him another $1000 in cash as a deposit on future work. When I pointed out that his contract called for payment by check, and that I was not going to pay without a paper trail, he walked off the job. During the work that was performed, the workers were very slow. For example, it took 20 minutes for 4 men to move a large armoire up a flight of stairs. The mover that I hired to replace Father and Son Movers moved a similar item upstairs in two minutes using 2 men. I had the feeling that  the mover was stretching out the time. The contract was by the hour without a "not to exceed" clause (I know - I'm stupid). Subsequently, the mover sent me a bill, offering a 10% discount if I would pay him $4000 and he would now accept a personal check! He also required that I remove any negative reviews that I may have posted on the Internet or elsewhere and remove the complaint I filed with the California Public Utilities Commission.  .
