Lithium batteries on a moving truck
Most movers will not load loose lithium batteries, power banks, or an e-bike battery. Lithium cells are regulated hazardous materials in transport, and a damaged or overheated cell in a sealed trailer is a fire nobody can reach. Phones, laptops, tools with the pack installed, and the e-bike battery travel with you, not in the load.

Why crews say no
Lithium batteries are hazardous materials under US transport rules. A household-goods carrier is not set up to carry them as cargo, and the van line's tariff lists them as non-allowables next to propane and paint. The crew is not being difficult; they are following the list.
A swollen, dented, or recalled pack should not go anywhere except a battery drop-off. Do not tape it and hope.
What to do with them
Keep devices with the battery installed and powered off. Put spare cells and power banks in a small box with the terminals taped, and drive that box yourself. Charge to roughly half, not full, if they will sit for weeks.
An e-bike or e-scooter battery goes in its own case in your car. If you are flying, it does not fly with you; ship it separately as hazardous goods through a carrier that accepts it, or sell it and buy at the other end.
For an ocean move, ask the international mover for their battery policy in writing. Many exclude lithium from the container entirely.
Flying with the rest
Spare batteries and power banks go in carry-on, never checked. Up to 100 watt-hours needs no approval. From 101 to 160 watt-hours you need the airline's approval and a limit of two spares. Above 160 watt-hours is not allowed on a passenger flight. The FAA page has the table.

Ask out loud
- Can movers take my laptop if the battery is inside?
- Many will, at your risk, and many will not. Treat electronics with batteries as things that travel with you. The truck is hot and sealed.
- Is there a new lithium battery moving ban?
- No. The rules are the existing hazardous-materials rules and the mover's non-allowables list. Any page telling you a new ban started this year is inventing it.
