   Move from Shanghai to the UK

   From the first time I was contacted by Solaris through Cheryl before our shipment left Shanghai, I have been very impressed and satisfied with the experience. Regular communication from Cheryl was so helpful, especially as we were looking for new accommodation in the UK once we arrived, so knowing the flexible storage options was vital. Once we had a plan and time scale the process was really smooth and clear to understand, which is all you can wish for when you have many other things to concern you. Come the move day, the two guys Dean and Jason, were excellent in their focus to help us, giving some very helpful advice and paying attention to keeping everything safe in the shipment and our new home. We are very grateful to their hard work on the day, how they cleaned up and took away all of the packing materials and accommodated our requests to move a couple items into different rooms after the initial unloading. All in all a positive experience.

   A top notch relocation company. Crew did a fantastic job in delivery and unpacking of my household goods. very efficient and courteous. Solaris admin support was excellent and kept me informed of shipment arrival date and date of delivery. Will use them again for my next move.

   Delays, missing items, poor communication

   Do NOT use Solaris for international moving. After doing thorough research of 10 different removal companies, I made the mistake of going with Solaris based on their strong reviews. John is likely the first person who'll contact you, and to start he is very responsive and communicative, then he'll pass you on to his team and external international partners at the destination, who are all generally unresponsive, not proactive, and require A LOT of chasing up for basic information. I relocated from London to NYC this summer. I sent Solaris photos of my antiques and personally valuable items prior to collection, asking them for their advice for crating and proper packing, as other companies had suggested crating for these items. They collected my items. Then I chased up on the crating and packing for a week, didn't hear back, until I got the email that the container had already departed and that *none* of the items were crated. When I brought this up to them, no answer and tried to dodge it; then when I provided John with proof of past email exchanges, he apologised and said the items may be fine without crating. Also, I was quoted 3-5 weeks. We are now in the 6th week, and I've had to actively contact their NY partners here myself (by calling, because they don't respond to emails) to get further information on arrival and de-consolidation schedules. The container with my items is in a NY warehouse, I am still waiting for my shipment to be delivered. I was sent photos today and I see that nearly everything is in the same packing as I had it when it was in storage and when it was collected, despite them quoting professional 'export packing and wrapping.' Today I am told several items from my shipment are MISSING, and they haven't yet provided solutions. The delivery date was mentioned for Tuesday earlier this week, then Thursday, now it is being planned for Friday. All I can do is hope that nothing is damaged and that the items can be delivered this week. In the case that items are damaged, I hope that Solaris will take responsibility for their negligence, and that the insurance I'd paid extra for does cover it, although the antiques are irreplaceable. It's extremely frustrating when all of one's personal belongings are in the hands of a company who are unresponsive and careless. A 'overpromise, underdeliver' setup, I doubt they have personal experience, themselves, of what it is like to move across the world and wait, to put all of one's valued belongings entirely into the hands of another, because they simply don't know how to offer considerate, proactive, efficient communication and solutions. Do yourself a favour and read others' thorough reviews, good and bad. Maybe they're fine for local or regional moving within England, but save yourself a huge headache and **do not use them for international moving.**

   DO NOT USE THEM TO MOVE ANY OF YOUR THINGS. While they are communicative and helpful in the lead up to collecting your good and collecting their fees, once their fees are collected, they are not proactive in keeping you updated of shipment details and timetables. In addition, their packing was absolutely terrible: boxes were not marked fragile, glassware etc was packed terribly so had broken goods in most boxes, they lost so many of my items and only managed to located some of them. A lot of my expensive and irreplaceable mid-century furniture was damaged. Worst of all they wash their hands of this and refuse to take ownership of their abhorrent quality of service. Shame on you
