   Unprofessional - reported to police

   Carried out a removal for a very ill relative. The removal men, whilst friendly and laying out the boxes in a nice way at the new property, made disparaging comments at the time, saying the stuff was "all rubbish" (we didnt take notice at the time). We naively had labelled all the boxes with their contents. Upon unpacking, turns out that the removal men had taken many of the valuable items, some of them precious family possessions, which then made sense as regards to their comments, and kept many of the boxes in their van, probably to sell on. Contacted the company to investigate - incredibly rude response back. Reported to the police and trading standards. Incredibly upsetting experience all round. Would definitely not recommend to use - so angry I never reviews of any company, but if there is one positive from this experience, take the bad experience we had

   The removal you refer to took place over two years ago. Despite alleging that goods were stolen and that you contacted the police, we have not, to date, been contacted by The Metropolitan Police regarding these allegations. In actual fact the true sequence of events is as follows: We received an email one year after the removal from an unknown email address, not linked to the email address provided by the client, requesting confidential client information. In line with data protection we did not provide any details or information requested and concerned that someone was trying to access client details, we actually suggested that they contact the police. As previously stated, we have not been contacted by the police regarding this matter. Then one year later and now two full year’s since the removal you place a review with wholly unfounded and untrue allegations. All our staff are fully DBS checked. The operatives in question have worked for the company for over ten years and yours is the first allegation of any sort made against them. In addition, in the two years since the removal, the client’s relative (who left the review) has confirmed that there have been workmen at the property. At J.A Steel and Son we have been enormously fortunate to have the most wonderful, loyal customers. The majority of our work is through recommendations and we have now been in business over 100 years.

   Bad experience.

   I would not use this company again if they did it for free. Quick enough to take your money though (you have to pay a week before the move). Did not call the day before to let me know what time they were coming. Wrapped parcel tape around my washing machine waste pipe. Scratches (quite a few) on my dining table. Completed a survey and referred to scratches but no-one bothered to call. Sent email with complaints but did not receive a response.  Eventually had to chase again.

   Unprofessional Servce.

   Do not recommend this company. Our furniture was delivered to us from storage in a very sorry state. Items were in pieces, dented and badly scratched, Our complaint fell on deaf ears so took our complaint to B.A.R. (british association of removers.) who in turn passed on our complaint to an independent concilliator who awarded us compensation. This company  has refused to pay us any compensation   awarded to us.

   Unprofessional firm.

   Do not use this removal firm - totally unprofessional. They made a local two bed flat move last all day even though I paid extra for 3 men on the job. They refused to move the piano and sofa into the new flat citing that they would not go up the steps and I had to pay for someone else to do this, clearly they did go upstairs. They also failed to invoice me and immediately debited my account leaving me in arrears. I will be writing to the ombudsman as I would not wish anyone else to have such a bad experience. I have nothing good to say.
