We have moved long distance with Allied Van Line several times, so we chose Bailey’s Moving & Storage, an Allied Van Line company, for our move from Colorado to Washington State. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible experience.
The pickup went smoothly. However, it turned out that the little packing that was done by the company was quite poor. The items that we packed ourselves (which was the majority) arrived in much better shape than the few items that were packed “professionally” by the movers.
The delivery in Washington was a real nightmare. The driver was rude to our new neighbors demanding they move their car even though it was unnecessary. He claimed that protecting our carpet with a runner was not their responsibility. Worst of all they treated our belongings extremely roughly, playing fast and loose and dropping a box from 4ft height right in front of our eyes (it happened to contain a desktop computer).
Our mattress was balancing on a box in the truck, half bending downward. When we expressed our shock at its position, the driver said that it would be fine. No, it was not fine. Some buttons that hold the box springs in place popped under the extreme weight.
We discovered more and more: our high-end furniture damaged, wood chipped, legs of a table and a bench broke off, another bench with bent legs. Two high-end height adjustable desks came with the lifting mechanism broken, one collapsed. Crystals and glasses broken; printer’s ink splashed all over inside the casing. Our treasured mountain bikes came with bent wheels and damaged breaks.
The insurance claim process is laughable. It took 5 weeks before they sent someone to inspect the damage. This was last week and we still have no timeline of when the insurance will make any decision on reimbursement (if any). In the meanwhile, we cannot repair or discard the damaged pieces, or it will void the insurance. Our life is on hold because of a poor job done by Bailey’s Moving & Storage. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
