Demand a contract!! I booked two hours and three men. When I called and scheduled the service, I asked about all of the charges and fees. I asked if there was an 'early bird discount' and was quoted 10% discount.
Start time was supposed to be between 8 and 9 am. One person called to say they were 25 minutes away, but didn't show up until 45 minutes later. Then the truck didn't show up until 10:30 am. I was told the company provided an extra mover for free for the 'inconvenience.' This is where they got greedy and scandalous: I only asked for three movers. The fourth guy was supposed to be for 'FREE' because they showed up three hours late. I DID NOT ask for five movers. Five guys showed up and this is where I got manipulated. They goofed off way too much, and not all of them worked 100% of the time. One guy disappeared for at least an hour. 'Robert' (the only person's name I got) was on the phone for about an hour to take and make some calls. He disappeared into a black car at least twice. Before we left the storage, I gave verbal directions on how to get to our new home. Evidently, no matter if I spoke English or Chinese, it didn't matter because he did not listen to a single word. The truck didn't show up at our location until at least one hour later. They explained that 'GPS wasn't accurate.' Why should I pay for their mistake when I verbally offered driving directions? They said that their start and arrival times are 'only an estimate.' They said part of the delay was because they had to stop and get gas. Why is that my problem? I asked what would be the charge for each hour more than the two-hour Groupon deal, and was told it would be $75 per hour, but when it came time to settle, the fee changed to $100 per hour, and the 10% did not get applied. We had a washer, dryer and a two-piece sectional couch that needed to be moved upstairs. I had to ask if they had any protection or coverings for my new walls and new flooring. They used nothing to cover the floors and the stairs to the second floor. There are scuffs on the walls. It was a hot summer day, and so I offered a clean dry towel, but the two guys sweat perspiration on the new microfiber upholstery.
Not one person smiled or introduced themselves. Zero eye contact.
I got charged $250 more than what I expected to pay. While they worked, I was polite and gave the men bottled water and soda beverages. Afterwards, I was so bitter and disappointed with your business that I didn't offer to tip each person $20.
This is not what I expect from a professional business and I hope this isn't your normal process. This is sub-standard practice and poor business ethics. I had nothing to protect me as a customer and co
