I can only support the other reviews which also indicated that Matthew Moving is the worst moving company. I have had three moves and Matthews Moving was the worst by far. They sent people who stealed some things and then refused to repair all the items that were broken when I moved back into the house. I even had insurance and they tried to prevent me from using the insurance because it would increase their rates. Totally dishonest and unethical! Do not use Matthews Moving-you can definitley do better! .

Cross-border shipment - Maryland to British Columbia Lie: Full Replacement value means just that Truth: You only get the value you originally paid for it, not today's cost Lie: The insurance company decides the value Truth: Allied Van Lines tells you what you'll get Lie: They will pay you to repair the item to it's original state Truth: Make sure you get a COMPLETE estimate and fight for it or they'll only give you HALF of the claimed amount Lie: Full replacement value covers anything you packed Truth: You are out of luck on that one! - Not one penny unless the box has physical damage. Not even photos of the FRAGILE sticker helped. They will tell you to check the contract terms Section 1a -(CYA general term) - 'from an act, omission or order of shipper'. AND you only get the contract after you have signed it when the truck is loaded! Lie: We guarantee delivery dates Truth: They can guarantee anything they want - you'll get your possessions on their schedule Lie: All the delays were weather-related Truth: I watched the weather across the continent - NOT! They had no clue where the drivers were. Talk to the driver when he arrives; he'll tell you the truth Lie: Cross-border shipping (to Canada) - don't need a value of all goods Truth: Yep, you do, or you will spend hours at customs writing out a manifest with dollar values…and this is by BOX, not total shipment - do you know what's in all those boxes? Customs wants to know. DO NOT prepay in full with a credit card when you decide to use them. Hold back 10% and pay on day of delivery. Maybe they'll make a concerted effort to deliver your possession within the stated time frame. Delivery recap: Delivery dates quoted as Jan 14-27, 2014 Jan 8 - possessions loaded onto a truck; We requested the goods stay on the truck (more secure and less handling) but the driver told us our goods were unloaded into their warehouse and repacked before loading onto the trailer - more weight = more money! Victory Van told us they would stay on the truck until the driver arrived from Florida then a direct transfer would take place. Jan 21 - First shipment left Maryland. This is when I was then told the shipment was split. Jan 28 - First shipment arrived in British Columbia Canada - 20 days to travel 2700 miles? Feb 6 - I was told we would have to clear the second half ourselves! HUH! - Yup, go to the freight forwarder office, get paperwork, go to customs at airport, return paperwork to freight forwarder - thought we paid big bucks for them to take care of it? Fortunately we dealt with a very nice man at the freight forwarders who explained the mess to us. Feb 14 - Second shipment finally delivered - Yep that 37 days later! Guess they sent it to Timbuktu first In summary: The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing or where it is for that matter. They do not have a clue about cross-border shipments so if you used Allied Van Lines/North American Van Lines, or their agent Victory Van Corporation/Matthew Moving Company (one in the same) say your prayers because you will need all the patience you can muster to deal with them. THEY TALK THE BIG TALK but DON'T WALK THE WALK!! If you are brave enought to try them..ABOVE ALL ELSE - TAKE PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE BOXES AFTER BEING TAGGED WITH INVENTORY NUMBERS ON THEM AND DON'T ALLOW THEM TO LOAD BEFORE YOU HAVE DONE SO! They are your possessions - they won't look after them; you must!

We hired Victory Van Line/Matthew Moving Co., Inc. after receiving several quotes from other neighboring moving van lines. This had to be the worst moving experience of our lives. My husband's position has requrired us to move around several times over the last 10 years and we have never had such unprofessionalism by a moving company EVER! Our antique bed was broken ( and not paid for by the companies insurance company) the legs off one of our sofa's has never been found in the moving boxes or otherwise. A very expensive lamp shade and screws is missing, scratches on a very expensive dining room table, and kitchen table as well as a cradenza. The moving company sent one (1) packer for a 5,000 square foot home fully furnished. Matthew Moving informed us he would be quick, and he was all we would need. He finished the packing in 3 days! The moving company also didn't show up on the scheduled move day, and never called to say we will be late or the driver of the 18 wheeler is a no show, just didn't show up. When we called them to see why they were not there to move us, we were informed at that time why the didn't show and told we could not have a date any other day or time before mid July, as they were booked solid. Mind you, we were packed and needed to be out of that home by the following day. We contacted the owner of the Van line and were told we were not as important as the other contracted moves, as we were not a government move. After a exhausting day of debates with the moving company they found us a crew out of Virginia..we live in Maryland. We are to receive $200.00 for our broken bed and other damaged items and they almost didn't honor the estimated pricing for the move as they said we were over the estimated weight, in addition to everything else they had done to us. I would never recommend these people to anyone. IN FACT OUR NEXT LETTER IS TO THE BETTER BUISNESS BUREAU. Best of luck to those of you who do choose to use this company and I sure hope you work for the goverment, otherwise..hang it up! Horrible! The Payne's.
