I contracted with My Guys Moving in Sterling, VA, to relocate furnishings from a two-bedroom apartment in Washington, D.C. to a house in Lexington, KY. My Guys is the actual company that will handle your household goods, not a broker that books your move, requires a deposit, and assigns your move to another company you did not select. Avoid those scams. My Guys is not a broker. My first telephone contact at My Guys was with the person who asked me for how many boxes I would have and what dimensions. Also, each piece of furniture and their measurements. He gave me a quote the following day and estimated that my total weight would be 6,800 pounds. The quote was partially based on total weight. Turned out he was within 400 pounds of the total, which is excellent. On the movement day, we had a two-member crew - Henry and Miguel. They arrived on time and were accompanied by Orlando, who labeled and inventoried all pieces, both the boxes and items not boxed and had five pages when finished. The apartment was on the 4th floor, and they used the freight elevator. When arriving, they wrapped the doorways to prevent scratching, laid runners on the floor, and were extra careful with the furniture. This process took four hours. They wrapped all furniture and loose pieces that might get scratched. Transportation to Lexington went smoothly. My Guys Moving also had all trucks on a GPS system, so that you can track where the truck is at all times while in transit. In Lexington, Miguel and Henry asked which room each item should go and placed them accordingly. This phase took about 3 hours. Henry and Miguel were excellent; careful, and professional. I can recommend My Guys Moving, without reservation.
