Do not hire Safe Moving Company out of NJ. They are rude and failed to deliver our 2 piece Craftsman tool box with over $1800. worth of tools. Here's how it happened.
Safe Load Moving showed up to our home in New York and started by asking for $2000. more than we had negotiated with the moving broker company. The company we contracted with "had overbooked" and was unavailable. Safe Load was contracted last minute by the broker to move us from New York to Houston. So we were stuck. It was the manager of Safe Load Moving in New Jersey who was demanding the extra $2000.
When they showed up, we were already supposed to be out of our home because we had sold it. So we were under pressure to hurry up and agreed to pay them, since the contract said the price was an estimate.
The movers were led by a man named Baldo, one of the rudest men my wife has ever met. He would not listen to her when she told him to be careful with some of our fragile items. He failed to properly package them, piling them into boxes so they could hurry and load their truck. One of the last items to be packed was the toolbox, which they did not want to put on the truck, stating it would cause the weight to be over the limit. Were know about how much our furniture weighs and we were about 3000 lbs under at that point. They placed it on the back of the truck, closed up and took off.
When they showed up to deliver our furniture, the supervisor told me it would cost $400. more in cash because they had to move our furniture from a larger truck to a smaller truck so it would fit into our apartment complex. Again, we were stuck if we wanted our furniture. When they showed up it was about 6:00 PM. I paid the supervisor, who took off and was not seen again. The gentlemen who delivered our furniture were kind and considerate and did an excellent job of moving our furniture from the truck to our apartment. That is the only positive I have for this, the worst moving company we have ever had move us. The toolbox was missing from our furniture. When we unpacked, we found several items broken. We finished unpacking after a couple of months and filed a claim within the allotted time frame.
Of course, Safe Moving denied the claim, stating we had not filled it out correctly. We had marked the items that were delivered and did not mark those that were not. The tool box was not marked. They said we needed to mark it specifically as "not delivered." So they denied it. It was supposed to be safe on their truck, failed to show, and they denied the claim.
I am currently in arbitration. I am so upset with how this company treated my wife and our furniture. We were a military family and moved several times over the years, sometimes from coast to coast. This company is by far the worst we have ever had the displeasure to use.
