As of September 2026, US interstate household moves still live under FMCSA rules: written estimates, the 110% delivery rule on non-binding jobs, and a USDOT you can look up.

What you do this week
- Look up the mover's USDOT and check for household-goods authority, not just registration.
- Read the first line of the estimate: binding or non-binding. Non-binding means 110% at delivery, balance billed later.
- Ask for the Your Rights and Responsibilities booklet. An interstate mover must provide it before you sign.
- Get the delivery window and the valuation choice on the bill of lading before the truck loads.
