Good experience for a first long-distance move

Overall, I had a good experience with IntraGlobe and IMS Moving Network for a move from Canada to Europe. I selected the options of bringing my packed belongings to the Montreal facility, for the company to deliver the shipment at my new address at destination, and to handle customs procedures at both ends. Since I had never shipped my personal belongings in this way before, the agents who worked on my file were knowledgeable, professional, and helpful with the paperwork, and the process was smooth afterwards. I greatly appreciate the care put by the staff at the facility in Montreal during "palettisation" to minimise damage during transport, and to facilitate my shipment's passage through customs. I had already numbered each box/package and had a detailed record of their content; bringing this information with me on the drop-off day definitely helped with this step. I was given an estimate of how long shipping and customs clearance would be, but was immediately notified when the shipment was ready to be delivered at my new address. All my belongings were intact. I did not take the insurance coverage as I did not ship anything of great value or that was irreplaceable. I also did not bring any furniture during this move. However, I had packed all relatively fragile items carefully and in a sensible manner for my own peace of mind. In general, I am glad and relieved the whole process went well for me; I had not done a move of this scale before, and had to make an informed decision based on online reviews and after contacting several companies. The only advice I would give would be to properly estimate the volume of your shipment prior to finalising the contract, as I had largely overestimated mine and the price cannot be adjusted after.

    Relocation move

So, I already had relocated to Asia, I had gotten rid of a lot of things, but, I still had a lot of things I wanted with me in my new life. So I did bite the bullet and tried to find a moving company that suited my needs. I picked Intraglobe, I liked the door to door service, kinda traditional moving style. It feels like all moving companies have their fair share of bad reviews in general, so it’s not an easy choice. Anyway, from start to end all went well, from picking at my friends house where I had been storing my belongings to storing in their warehouse (so my stuff would arrive not too early) packing, shipping, clearing customs (that was a bit worrisome as the country I live in has difficult customs clearance procedure but all went like a charm) and finally delivery to my home (new home) Communication was good and all was pretty simple. I had chosen door to door service and I am glad I did, I didn’t really have to do anything except make a list of what I was shipping and cross my fingers for all to go well. Glad it did. I know many people had bad experiences with shipping companies, I personally know of some from friends who had difficulties. I think its a good idea to take insurance if you are shipping valuable things (I didn’t, although my items were valuable, they were not replaceable so insurance would not have worked or helped in my case) I think you also have to be realistic, a lot can happen when you ship from one corner of the world to another one. Be specific, if something is fragile, indicate it, maybe pack that item yourself, if you decide to pack yourself, dont mix light and heavy things together, maybe better leave it to the pros, dont ship stuff you can easily replace in your new location, that will only inflate your final bill,. Realize that once your stuff is packed, and crated if needed or put on a palette, the volume to ship is going to increase. More volume, more cost. All this might be self evident to some but reading some of the reviews I read from various companies, it is not self evident to some, more than some… But, if you have your things in order, organized, a list of what you ship, a window of when you can expect to receive things (mine arrived later than they were supposed to) but I was told that the date of arrival might change. I was okay with that. (I think that has to do with wether you ship a full container or not, I was not) On the other hand, I could not receive my things too early because I was visiting family in another country. That was clearly specified and respected. Anyway, this company did well for me. I still have some more items to ship and I will use this company again. (I wanted to see how this shipment would go first with customs here) Well, enough said, I hope this helps some people to make their decisions, or maybe better understand what they need.

From the initial contact with Yaelle Godot to the final contact with Phillipe Masabo, everything was done with extreme professionalism. My belongings in France were packed with care and proficiency. Once they arrived in Canada and passed customs, they were unpacked with the same efficient attention. Everyone I was in contact with was polite, courteous and friendly. Questions were answered in a timely manner and I am very happy with the service provided. I wouldn’t hesitate to use IMS/IntraGlobe again should the need arise.

    Done and done!

I received several estimates and contacted many for my overseas move. Intraglobe was one of the few companies that made it simple- not asking for complicated math and spreadsheets ages before the move, but they also provided rates which were well below some of the others I received. They went out of their way to book my pick up in a time that worked for me, since I was leaving the country in days. They arrived on time, they were clean, tidy, careful, and helpful. They provided copies of paperwork and tips on additional questions I may receive from customs. My email correspondence while the shipment was in process was quite clear and helpful. I did get a bit confused at one point but once both the shipping and receiving side responded it was clear- I have never moved overseas so of course it was new to me! They were patient and my shipment arrived and they charged only a few Euros to bring the shipment up to my apartment. What could have been a nightmare (from what I have read) was so clear and not that hard. They were amazing and I appreciated their work on all ends. Thank you so much! I really appreciated the care!

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. My personal effects were packed on the 16th of December 2021. 3 or 4 guys, nice and polite, was there for 15 cube meters, it was well packed, and I globally didn't check their work because I was busy working on my laptop! It's not a surprise with the current worldwide context for Maritime transportation, the truck left Montreal only on the 9th of February 2022. My point of Contact in Montreal was Clemence Nougein and she was reactive to my messages (I decided at the last minute to go with IntraGlobe due to an important change of quote of my initial choice), helpful and transparent about the price and inclusions, like the preference to not include the destination broker cost to pay the actual cost instead a maximum price. The volume evaluation was perfect (it was a concern with other movers with over evaluation and minimum volume costing more). I have been in contact with the operations to follow the situation about boat availability and to know the vessel's name and itinerary (to be able to track online). In Australia, everything was managed by OSS World Wide Movers. There was some cost at the arrival, not a surprise for most of them, some unknown ones, but all cost was still in my budget estimation and still, the cheapest of all the quotes received. The final delivery was done on the 27th of May 2022 by 3 nice guys (2nd floor without elevator, this is one of the extras I had to pay). Yes, it was long, but I was prepared for it and some inspections by Australian authorities were mandatory adding delays due to a lack of staff. There were some damages, but nothing major and it was not valuable items. I can recall 2 items missing (one cheap Bluetooth speaker and good headphones), I don't know if one box is missing (but I can't recall more items missing and it's too small for a full box). They tried to check if there was a box with my name in their depot, but they found nothing. And unfortunately, the initial counting of boxes/items/furniture wasn't done properly in Montreal (undercounted). So, overall good service and communication, I am now well settled down!
