We moved from NY to AL and had a terrible experience with Adams Van Lines (broker). Our consultant, Alex, started out very helpful and we received a quote right away. However, once they received our 50% deposit, all communication from Alex stopped. Dispatch was the only department that had the decency to return my phone calls. Alex significantly mis-calculated the estimate. He estimated 4,000 cf of space, when in actuality, it was more than double, as was the final price. We had to leave items behind such as sofas, chairs, tables, etc. Included in the deposit were services that were not rendered, such as handling fees for items that were not moved. Again, no call back regarding a refund for that part of the deposit. When the actual trucking company arrived and walked through the house and garage, he immediately knew there was a huge mistake. Luckily, we worked out a new price with the trucking/moving company, which required 2 extra trucks being sent to accommodate our move. It was not a matter of the pricing difference, but the lack of communication and professionalism from Adams Van Lines. They did not back their "binding" estimate. They put it all on the movers to handle. I would not recommend this company.
