Terrible moving experience with a local move--hired this company to assist with packing the residuals of a house that had already been largely moved and a piano. I have a large array of valuable antiques and other items and had particular concerns hiring a mover generally. While I was reassured of the professionalism of the company, that turned out to not be the case. First, a number of the movers showed up smelling of marijuana on the job--that is not what I would expect from professional, courteous movers. Second, after the move, a number of items already in the new house were missing in a location where only the movers were working. When confronted about these concerns, the company conducted a cursory investigation and did not respond to my follow-up expressing disappointment with the experience, offer any refund, or attempt to do anything to make the situation right. The items remain missing. I would strongly urge anyone to find other movers in Delaware as my experience made clear that this company is not to be trusted with my valuables during a move.

When the packers came it seemed like there was one hard worker and the other worker was not around much (he even went to eat breakfast in the truck right after he arrived). He was moving at half the pace of the other worker was who immediately started working upon arrival. The packing was completed. The next day, the movers arrived at 9am, 30 minutes after the scheduled time. There was no leader, no clear direction. They started disassembling and were leaving hardware in furniture with a potential for damage. They were not wrapping any of our furniture and they were not aware this was necessary. They broke and damaged furniture right in front of us after we repeatedly begged them to wrap and cover our furniture. We paid over $300 in professional furniture covers and they were just throwing them on top of the furniture rather than wrapping each piece properly. They had plenty of supplies on had to do so and were asked repeatedly to wrap and protect furniture. In addition, there was one hard worker and three workers who kept disappearing. It was so bad they were all yelling and cursing at each other. I stepped in and asked them to handle the situation and stop arguing with each other. They refused to work, especially Jay and another gentlemen who did the paperwork. My family and I had to step in to get the job done. The workers were literally standing around watching us move our belongings. This was most definitely the most unprofessional move we have ever experienced and I am certain all of our furniture was damaged. I called and spoke with the manager. She never apologized and never called back. Management has yet to return a call.

Bad experience. DE Moving & Storage lost two large items - an 8' stepladder and a 48" glass tabletop that was specially crated at an additional charge of $280. At loading, I asked the driver about insurance coverage for items they might lose or fail to deliver. He assured me they would replace the item regardless of the coverage I chose. NOT SO. I was paid $0.60/lb. for the lost items (not including the special crate). I have tried reaching out to Customer Service both at DE Moving & Storage and at Wheaton. No reply from either. They fail to honor what their employees tell the customer, and they seem not to care.

DE M&S moved me locally (about 6 miles) in November 2021. They did the packing and unpacking of my almost-new 65" LCD TV (although later they claimed they did not). At any rate, the TV sustained serious damage, obviously due to careless handling. Attempts to get some compensation for this were fruitless. Their claims rep (Sandy) did not return my calls initially, and when she finally did, she hung up on me, evidently because I used profanity (I made a statement about the "damn" TV). But I had already received a letter saying they were "not responsible for TV sets, whether or not ...packed or unpacked by the Company". My advise is to avoid this company like the plague.

I hired Delaware Moving & Storage Inc. in the summer of 2019 to pack, store, and deliver my household to New Jersey. Based on my experience, the best way I can describe Delaware Moving & Storage Inc. is fraudulent, disorganized, and unprofessional. 30% of my items were missing by the time they arrived at the final destination. After several calls to Delaware Moving and Wheaton, who they used for the cross-state line move, they just stopped responding to me. I had spent ~$1,000 purchased extra insurance to cover my move. Stay away from Delaware Moving & Storage Inc. or Wheaton. They are a fraud.
