Set the packed-move median next to the wider corpus before you treat it as a packing price. Interstate medians are $4,500 for 2025 and $4,530 for 2026 to date. Same-state medians are $1,500 and $1,870. A packed job is not a clean add-on to those figures, because the review price already includes the truck, the miles, and the boxes. How packing is priced

The packing crew and the truck are often two appointments. The mean rating is 3.93. 72.1% are five-star and 26.5% are one or two stars. Who packs and what PBO means

Three people can close a box, and the paperwork cares which one did. The mover's own crew, a subcontracted packer the van line hired, or you. If you packed it, the inventory should say PBO, packed by owner. Under the federal valuation rules, the carrier's liability for the contents of a box the customer packed is limited unless the carton shows external damage. A subcontracted packer does not erase the name on the bill of lading. You want the company that will haul the goods to be the one answerable for carrier-packed cartons. The paper that protects you

An inventory with box counts is the document a claim will quote. Count cartons by room, note carrier-packed versus PBO on each line, and do it before the truck leaves. High-value items need their own declaration, with a description and condition, not a line that says misc. The bill of lading guide is the form that should match that list on pickup. Released value is the default if you do not elect full value. At 60 cents per pound per article, the check follows weight. Fourth, confirm the pack day and the load day are both on the order, and write down who employs the packers. Fifth, read recent reviews that describe packing, not a star score with the writing stripped out.
