   Very Deceptive Practices

   I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience with Armstrong Moving & Storage. Before our move, salesman Tom Allmon visited our home and discussed Armstrong providing packing services, including using donated boxes to reduce costs. Based on those conversations, we received an estimate of approximately $5,070. When the moving crew arrived on April 24, 2026, we were unexpectedly told that Armstrong's paperwork showed we were responsible for packing our own belongings. This was the first time anyone had communicated that expectation. With movers already at our home and no practical alternative, I was told Armstrong could still pack our belongings if I immediately approved an additional charge of about $2,200. Before delivery was completed, I was notified that the crew had exceeded the estimated hours and that I owed another $2,700. Multiple requests to speak with management were ignored, and promised return calls never occurred. When our belongings were delivered, several items were damaged or improperly reassembled, including a headboard installed backward, scratched furniture, unattached dresser mirrors, and crushed lampshades. Nearly a month later, I received a notice claiming I still owed $4,973 without an itemized explanation. After finally speaking with company president Todd Peterson, the balance was reduced to $1,433—a reduction of more than $3,500. This raised serious concerns about the accuracy of the original billing. In the end, a local move of roughly 10 miles cost $8,711, far exceeding the original estimate. Between the unexpected charges, damaged property, poor communication, and dismissive handling of my concerns, this was an extremely disappointing experience that I would not recommend to others.

   Worst Move Experience Ever - Chicago to Nashville

   Having finally completed the arbitration case for my June 2022 move, I can now warn others away from using Armstrong and United Van Lines. Our move from Chicago to Nashville with them was the worst moving experience in 35 years. The sales person told us that we'd probably receive our shipment early in the delivery window because Armstrong has warehouse locations in Chicago and Nashville. However, after the first week of the window passed without hearing from anyone at Armstrong, I sent a note reminding them of their delivery obligation. We received our shipment at 8pm on the last day of the delivery window. The delivery team told us they'd loaded our shipment that morning and drove all day to get to us that evening. They were good guys, but very tired. As we looked at the boxes coming in, we could see that many of them were damaged -- crushed, torn, the bottoms showing water marks. A custom area rug was significantly damaged by Armstrong's packers; they'd incorrectly folded it and it showed water damage. They'd also lost bedframe hardware, preventing the delivery team from re-assembling a bed. Unpacking the next day, we found our KitchenAid mixer had been cracked by what looked like the box being dropped, and the pizza steel pulled out of a water-damaged box was rusted. A repair person replaced the bedframe hardware within a couple of days, but we were referred to United to resolve the rest of the damage. Our experience with United was even worse. Even though we'd paid for the full replacement value coverage they recommended, they only offered us $750 to resolve the $6,000 of damages that we documented. We had to go through a lengthy arbitration exercise just to get the amount increased to $2,000. The entire experience with Armstrong and United was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any type of services company. I strongly advise anyone to avoid using them.

   Residential Moving

   Horrible! It's been over a year and they won't return phone calls or emails. They have never settled up with the damages they made during my move. Items just thrown in a box without wrapping. Put a hole in my wall. Damaged furniture. Lost parts to put furniture back together. Worst of all, they will not return phone calls to get things fixed or pay for damages. Plus they were $2200 more expensive than their local competitors. I used because they were great 7 years ago and we thought we could trust them, but service has drastically declined!!! Will never use again!

   Movers BEWARE!!

   Armstrong Relocation out of San Antonio, TX runs a dishonest operation and their President could care less. Armstrong Relocation will low-ball your moving quote, promise you an unrealistic receipt date, deliver your goods late and then ignore you if you reach out about an issue. Their employees will treat you well before you hire them, but once they sell you that’s where the “customer comes first” attitude ends. FYI: Each pod they use is 300 cubic ft. At approximately 305 cubic feet, the shipping container can hold up to 2,500 lbs. That is a shipping container standard. Know the shipping standards before hiring a moving company especially Armstrong Relocation in San Antonio. As the consumer, protect yourself from being swindled by this company and ask they provide you with substantial proof that your goods were shipped in the number of containers they charge you for. You won’t know if you “owe” them more than your original quote until 30 days AFTER your move too. Interesting how that works out. Armstrong Relocation in San Antonio, TX will OVERCHARGE you and refuse to provide any evidence of your shipment. Give your business to an honest company who cares about their customers.

   Worst Moving Company.

   This has to be the worst moving company in the business. They don't honor their timelines, offer very poor communication to their clients and management does little or nothing at all with trying to help fix problems. Please if at all possible do not use this company. We were better off renting a U-Haul and hiring loaders and unloaders to help.

   No rights as a consumer!!??

   United Van Lines/ Armstrong relocation packed up our furniture on 6/13/17 in Houston TX. We arrived in Nevada and were SUPPOSED to have our furniture delivered on 6/21-6/27. It is now JULY 7th and we JUST got the word our furniture would NOT be delivered until MAYBE 7/21..a full MONTH past our delivery window of 6/21. I cannot express in words how difficult it is with a bad back to sleep on a blow-up mattress, do without the simple things in life like a table, chairs, refrigerator or clothes for a full month!! WARNING: I was told by my lawyer that we as consumers have NO LEGAL RECOURSE except to "file a complaint" with the Motor Carrier Association. I WOULD NEVER USE UNITED OR THEIR LOCAL AGENT ARMSTRONG RELOCATION!!

   Armstrong Relocation Itasca Move.

   The president came to our house in 9/10 and wrote the move for us to leave a large house and send half the contents to storage and half to a rental property. Two years later when we were moving his counterpart came to our house to plan the next move. He wouldn't leave our house without making sure we paid for extra insurance on the move. He said without it we would be underinsured. We moved 12/12. Problem is the extra insurance only covered the contents coming from the rental not what was originally put in storage. So the $1,800 table that was split in half was covered at a rate of .30 cents per pound. The superintendant in this move showed us paperwork where it was damaged going into storage and the movers had failed (he said purposely) to have us sign the paperwork. Getting a response from this company was like pulling teeth. My husband had to go to the office to find the president to get any response. Did I mention instead of the two trucks we were expecting they sent one, stuffed it and the move took 13 hours. Tired movers left heavy objects in our garage that we had to move ourselves. Eventually the company offered us a small check. Would I recommend this company? Never.
