    Excellent Service!

I was moving my lab and office items. I had the pack and delivery service. They arrived at 8:30 am and were done by 1:30 pm. Mel, Duke and Fred worked very hard and were efficient. They also seem to be very nice guys with a good sense of humor, which helps a lot with a stressful move. I requested the same guys again for another move I have in a weeks time.

Move from south Florida to N.J.

They picked up from three locations in Miami-Dade County and Broward County.  Two were from single family homes and one from a condominium.  Everything was taken to a storage location in N.J  They then had to made a very difficult pick up from a second-floor apartment in Charlottesville, Va. and deliver to another difficult house in N.J.  The items in storage are to be delivered to the house in N.J. when the house renovations are completed. The pickup in Charlottesville and delivery in N.J. had to be done in a very timely manner to coincide with the residents moving out of the Charlottesville apt and driving to the N.J. House. The movers did it perfectly the timing was perfect. The movers did a great job nothing was damaged neither what was moved or anything in the location that they were moving from. The moving crew was not large considering all that had to be moved but they did everything very efficiently and very quickly and they were all very nice and very pleasant. T total cost for all the moves and the storage including insurance was about $10,000.00 and based on the pickup from four locations and delivery to a house and storage, we all thought it to be a very reasonable price.  We had no issue with th price. All in all, we thought they did a great job at a very fair and reasonable price.  Both, management and the moving crews were always very nice and a real pleasure to work with they were very responsive to all of our needs and any changes that had to be made.  I would recommend them to anyone and I would have no hesitation to use them again. They were an absolute pleasure to work with.

    Excellent.

This was an excellent experience.  These movers are very professional, and very quick!  They got right down to business and did not stop until the job was completed.  Anthony, the lead on the job, was always polite and very helpful!  I would also say their pricing was average; certainly not too expensive.  If you are looking for an honest and professional company to move your goods, I would highly recommend J D Carton & Sons in Parsippany, NJ!

    Damage claim? NOT!

JD Carton moved my family's furniture and belongings in December 2014. The move itself went very well - the move team was excellent. However, there was some damage suffered. I purchased the full value insurance policy. 2 months after the move, the insurance assessor came to see the damage. It has now been 4 months and I have not heard from JD Carton, about a settlement. I have called numerous times, and have emailed them. It is a shame, since it would have been an otherwise good experience. Do not expect to get a damage adjustment if you use this company!!

THEY will SCRATCH and BREAK your things.

Here's my experience. I rented these guys because there were attached to a big name (Atlas, I think) but the experience was horrible. (This was 4 years ago, so things maybe changed). But, the people they hired were inexeperienced, they covered up none of my furniture and when taking it downstairs, they scratched it all up, by hitting the walls constantly. The futon was scratched, the furniture was scratched and I had a new laz-y boy that was scratched up. From my upstairs window, I could see them LITERALLY throwing all the boxes on top of each other, over and over again (whether they were marked fragile or not). As such, when I started upacking (even years later I find things broken) my cups, memoribilia etc. were ALL BROKEN (I mean, boxes of this stuff). I just couldn't believe how they were just throwing them. Then, WHILE ON ASSIGNMENT, they told me they would be at my place soon (it was like a town over tops) and THEY WENT TO LUNCH, on MY DIME, my HOURS (clocked in a 5-6 hours). I was SHOCKED. So, anyway, after I got all my stuff back, SCRATCHED up, I called to complain, and they told me I didn't have insurance, so TOO BAD. I mean, just because I wanted to save a few pennies and not buy insurance doesn't mean that it gives a company leeway to mess all your stuff up. So, I sent them letter AFTER letter complaining. After a year of letters (which I can show anyone who inquires) the company finally decided to reimburse me for some of the damage, but it was a lot of hassle, that could have been avoided if they hired people who knew what they were doing and didn't dismiss me when I compained.   .

    Salesman vs driver.

I was looking for a state to state delievery. so I googled companys and found Allied van lines.  A salesman called me in two or three days.An Agent that worked for J.D. Carton & Sons.  The first inital contact with Jonathan was fast and sweet. We got all the particulars out of the way.He responded very fast with a quote.I was concerned about a few items that were to be shipped and he asured me they would be drapped with a moving cloth and racked properly in the truck. Great all is well. I arrive a month later to my mothers house{ who as past.} My sibilings and I are of course are in deep morning. Stress, is of course at the tip of all .. at this point.  Jonathon calls to check in all paper work is signed turn in and things seem to be moving in the right direction .{So it seems} 1] Now we are using north american van lines. Not allied they don't run in the area. 2]we have to have a certifited check at the time of pick up. 3]driver googled the area and can't get down into the house. There has to be a shuttle. 4]driver comes out the day before to check it out.We now need 11 items crated over night. Driver was very upset.understandably so. Hes neck is on the line for breakage.   O.k  Stress stress stress. My brother is the Executor of estate and is out of town. We rush around and get the check that needs to be paid to driver at the time of pick up with 10% over the amount for weight. Driver finds a shuttle big enough thank god. And Jonathon finds a crater to come the morning of to crate  my things.   sounds simple..do to the circumstances of morning and all the time he had to check things out so it wasent so last minute really set us all over the edge. On top of it all the way the Salesman handled it verses the driver goes like this.   Rotton customer service..Jonathon told my brother { I have it in voice mail} I never mentioned the glass table and other items that needed to be crated. So I called him myself. He told me that in all his years he never expected a glass table to be so big..I said if your so experianced then after I mentioned the table so many times and it being moved from the shuttle to the van and concern of this item from day one.Why wasent there a red flag for him to ask me more questions ? Im grieving and he is suppose to be the professional !! Then he wasent sure if he could find a crater in short notice. The driver was mad because "its should be POLICY to send a person out on the companies dime to check things out not the driver" He told me it was taking up his whole day. When I said that I wasent getting much packing done.He said "You don't work on comission I do " I asked the crater how I should undue the crate when I get home ? he said there should be a company on my end that comes out to set table back up.We called Jonathon and no there isent.after a 1000.00 dallors. Its been a month and its still in the crate here .I have to find help or pay someone else to do the job. Last but not least. We were over the weight at the weigh station. When my brother called Jonathon to see if a estate check could be mailed.he said " yes ,but I hope your good for it". Oh yeah and all the drama about getting the check to the driver frist..Driver did not want it until delivery.   Great customer service.WALLY my driver !! Thank god he came a day early.Really what would have happened then? He and his partner were understanding ,caring, very sensitive about our grieving.Asked the right questions and always gave the right answer.Very personable and made me laugh. Not one thing was damaged,he was early and called me every step of the way.I can't say enough wonderful things about him.I 'm truly sorry he has to deal with the salesman.Who told me by the way, it was Wally who was over reacted .  The things probable did not need to be crated.   I personally never had such a big move.I trusted this company to guide me in a time of sorrow. All I got was more stress. I never recieved the follow up call from the company after it was all said and done. Really ?    .

    Horrible movers ; Avoid.

Two days before my move to Fl from NJ the owner ( Bryan Carton) called to say the truck would be late. How could I react? I I had no time to find someone else , so not only were they late , they carelessly damaged expensive items and then they send incompetent adjusters out to look at the items. The adjuster wouldn't know Maurice Villency furniture from Ethan Allen's..Give me a break! DON'T EVER USE J.D CARTON OR ALLIED ESPECIALLY IF MICHAEL GIONIS IS INVOLVED AS HE IS CLUELESS !!

Would not use again or recommend to anyone..

I move from a small three bedroom on the second floor to a small two bedroom house. I had everything packed and ready for the move, but once the drivers got there, everything fell to pieces. One of the movers was an older man who was clearly not happy about moving things down stairs. They both immediately called their bosses saying that there were to many items and that I lied about how much stuff I had. I don't know how I can lie when I showed the estimator everyhthing I had. After discussing options with their boss, my options were to have a third person show up, or just let the guys go. I was already afraid of going over on cost, so said that a third would have to do. After, a few more minutes of [EDIT] from the movers, I decided that someone had to do something. So I started bringing down boxes. Yes, I became the third mover. Great deal for the older mover! Now, he could stay downstairs and "load"the truck while my wife, myself, and the other mover did the work. After that, they couldn't figure out how to get my couch down. 45 minutes later and one destroyed hallway and couch, the decide to go out the other stairwell.. 15 minutes later, they had it out and destroyed that hallway. Now, they are all loaded and we are very close to my five hour window. They say they are taking an hour for lunch, but not worry, that isn't charged. At this point, my only option is for them to just unload everything into the living room and run. When it came time to reconcile the bill, I was furious. First thing he does is charge me with a starting time of 8:30. That is the time they showed up, but after [EDIT] and crying on the phone with their boss, we didn't move one thing until 9. Then, he only docks a half hour from their time for lunch. $150 over budget, $1500 in damages (and counting) at my old place, and still nothing from their "claims" department on the fixes. Worst. Company. Ever.

    Give an honest estimate!

Salesperson low-balled the estimated weight with 5,950 pounds, most likely to just get the business. Final weight on delivery was almost double the estimate at 11,240 pounds. Salesperson said it was due to a miscalculation of some items, but I firmly believe it was an intentional miscalculation. Although the drivers/movers went above and beyond standard customer service, even showing up the night before the move to pre-pack the truck, it is the experience with the salesperson and the utter lack of providing a honest estimate that turned me off from ever using this company again, or even recommending them to anybody.
