   Never hire them

   Loadrans handled my March 2026 household move from Laguna Hills to Oakland. Before the move, the broker, Coastal Moving Services, had originally estimated the move at approximately $7,800. Just three days before the scheduled move, that estimate was increased to approximately $15,000. Then Loadrans arrived to perform the move and I was told the cost would be approximately $20,000. So by moving day, a move originally estimated at about $7,800 had escalated to approximately $20,000. I then had significant documented damage to expensive household goods. Three Stickley dining chairs were scratched, my Stickley dining table was damaged, and my expensive Aireloom California King mattress arrived dirty and torn. The mattress damage was evaluated and documented as not repairable. Other damaged items included furniture, framed artwork and electronics. I had photographs documenting the condition before and after the move. At delivery, the crew was also inadequately staffed, and I ended up helping carry items myself. Then came the claims process. I spent months submitting extensive photographs, estimates, proof of value, documentation of the damage and additional information requested for the claim. The final compensation I received from Loadrans was: $227.82. That was the payment for documented damage to belongings worth several thousand dollars. Prospective customers should understand both how dramatically the price of my move changed before and on moving day and how little compensation I ultimately received after substantial damage to my belongings. Based on my experience, I would never entrust my household belongings to Loadrans again.

   LOADRANS AND COASTAL MOVING SERVICES BEWARE BAIT AND SWITCH, ADDED CHARGES, INCOMPLETE MOVE, TERRIBLE COMMUNICATIONS, DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES, MISSING EXPENSIVE JEWLERY! Loadrans, contracted by "Coastal Moving Services" was the carrier involved in my California household move, and my experience was extremely troubling. My belongings were picked up July 26. At pickup, there was an attempt to substantially increase the price based on claims that my belongings would not stack to the ceiling of the truck because of the piano. I paid extra to have the piano moved. The movers wanted to load everything and then give me a new estimate. I refused this. I was never provided a revised written estimate at pickup. This is especially important because I was subsequently told by Coastal Moving Services that a revised written estimate had been provided to me and that I declined it. That did not occur. Communication after pickup was extremely difficult. Delivery information repeatedly changed, and for a period I had difficulty obtaining basic information about the location and status of my household goods. There was also a disputed shuttle charge based on the assertion that a semi could not access my delivery street. I requested documentation identifying the vehicles used and substantiating the shuttle charge. The final invoice I received at delivery did not list the shuttle charge; I wrote the amount onto the invoice myself so there would be a record of what I was being charged. The delivery itself was also problematic. Only two people unloaded my belongings. My upright piano was left in my garage rather than moved into my house. I was later told that the piano did not fit within the transportation space that had been agreed upon. The piano, however, was part of the inventory provided for my move. They only take cash, zelle or anything else that cannot be tracked. After the delivery, I discovered that a diamond half-moon necklace and its appraisal paperwork were missing from a bathroom drawer. One of the movers had asked to use that bathroom and remained in it for approximately 10 minutes. Another person was present at my home and witnessed the length of time he was in the bathroom. Other jewelry remained in the drawer, but the diamond necklace and appraisal were gone. I cannot prove who removed the necklace, so I am not stating that the mover stole it. I am stating the circumstances because they are part of my experience with this move and the disappearance has been reported. This was one of the most stressful moving experiences I have had. Between the pricing dispute, absence of the claimed written revised estimate, delivery delays and communication problems, disputed shuttle charge, piano being left in the garage, and missing property, I would not recommend Loadrans or Coastal Moving Services.

   Extortion, Deliberate Damage, Shady - Avoid

   Do Not Use This Business - Ever. Seriously. The whole experience was horrible. From the start they talked through what was to be moved and gave an estimate. Then they demanded 50% up front, which we paid by credit card. The contract specified a date for pickup and another date for delivery. Shortly before the move date they called to do a final check - and then more than doubled the estimate. Again they demanded 50% up front, which we again paid with a credit card. At this point we had no option but to continue with them as it was too late to find another mover. The move date came and there were no movers. When we called we were told that the new contract gave the movers a window of time rather than the single specific day that the original contract stated. Sure enough when we checked the fine print the language had been changed to indicate a two day window. Furthermore, delivery had been set to a 21 day window - meaning that they didn't need to deliver our belongings for 3 weeks! They promised they would disassemble, pack, protect, deliver in place, reassemble. They managed the disassembly - by literally ripping some of the furniture apart. Pack and protect was a joke. They wrapped most of the furniture halfway with flat plastic wrap, leaving half of the furniture exposed to damage and the other half very poorly protected. The packing was a terrible experience. Of the promised 2 trucks and 5 person crew only one truck showed up with 2 people. The second truck didn't show up until 8pm and the packing wasn't finished until 3am. During this time they dropped and broke an expensive piece of equipment, which we had paid an additional hefty fee for them to move, leaving it abandoned on the garage floor. All this and they still demanded additional money on top of the more than doubled original quote. So we finally reached a point where they were willing to deliver our property back to us - on a Sunday during Memorial Day weekend. We waited and they finally showed up - with both trucks this time. However, the movers demanded cash up front for the remaining balance before they would even open the trucks. Up until now we'd paid via credit card, and the contract stated that payment could be made by credit card - but the movers refused to accept anything other than cash. This was thousands of dollars and we didn't have that much cash on hand. It was also a Sunday and a holiday weekend, so we couldn't go to the bank to get the cash in order to Pay the Ransom to have our property returned. So the movers drove away with our property and wouldn't even give a date that they would be willing to return with it. We went back and forth with phone call after phone call - most of the time having their automated system hang up on us, occasionally actually having a live person hang up on us instead. Finally we reached an agreement to have our property returned to us. By now we pretty much knew that our stuff had been trashed, and delivery was really just seeing how much damage had been done. It was bad...Really Bad. First off, the promise of redeliver and reassemble in place was out the window - the movers just dropped the property into the first room they came to and moved to another room after the first one filled up. There was no reassembly, none. Then there was the damage. I'll shorten it here because this has already become too long a review. Approximately 10% of our property had been lost or destroyed. Another roughly 30% was badly damaged. Of the remainder, not a single piece avoided some sort of damage. There were instances where I am forced to believe the damage was deliberate and malicious. For example where we had larger furniture that was easily dissembled by screw lock (where a quarter turn would unlock a screw and the part could be separated cleanly) they instead literally ripped the joint apart. These pieces were delivered in a broken pile...most of which I had to pay someone else to cart off as the trash they'd been turned into. Summarizing the above: Loadrans is Dishonest, Unprofessional, and Shady. They will Lie to you and then deliberately cause as much damage to your property as possible. They will hold that property as ransom until you hand over an amount of cash that has been inflated multiple times. Please - avoid them. Use someone else, give your stuff away. Anything, but please don't give them your business.

   Extortion Avoid at ALL COST

   Coastal Moving Service is the classic moving scam wrapped in a professional-looking website. We booked through Coastal at an agreed price. After our belongings were picked up and already in their possession, we suddenly got a call on delivery day saying the truck “couldn’t fit on our street” in San Francisco and we now owed $800 MORE or they would not unload our items. Let me be clear: They had our address the entire time. They even admitted their massive semi-sized truck doesn’t fit on most SF streets. Somehow this only became an “issue” once our belongings were being held hostage. Even worse, they refused credit cards for the surprise fee and pushed for cash/Zelle only. Huge red flag. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. This was a coordinated bait-and-switch. When we pushed back and cited the contract, they stalled, pressured, and implied we wouldn’t get our things back without paying. It escalated to the point where we literally had to call the police to mediate before they would finally back down and proceed. No legitimate company operates this way. If you value your money, your belongings, and your sanity — avoid Coastal Moving Service at all costs. There are countless stories like this for a reason. What should’ve been a simple move turned into stress, intimidation, and a near extortion situation. Save yourself the nightmare.

   Terrible - Drunk on the job

   I recently used Coastal Moving Services (working with their subcontractor Loadlan LLC) for a cross-country move, and it was hands down the worst moving experience I've ever had. This company should come with a warning label. What Went Wrong: CREW DRINKING ON THE JOB: The moving crew was literally drinking beer while handling my belongings. When I confronted the foreman about this completely unprofessional and dangerous behavior, he actually tried to justify it by saying "it gives his crew energy." Absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable. - Massive Property Damage: They damaged approximately 80% of my belongings. This wasn't just minor scuffs - we're talking about extensive damage to furniture, personal items, and valuables that required extensive insurance claims and documentation. - Deceptive Pricing: The final cost was significantly higher than quoted. They hit you with hidden fees and charges that weren't disclosed upfront, turning what seemed like a reasonable estimate into a financial nightmare. The first quote was $ 21K, but it ballooned to $ 38K. - Zero Accountability: Their contract is deliberately written to protect them while leaving you completely vulnerable. They take no responsibility for the damage they cause because their agreement barely holds them accountable for anything. - Complete Lack of Care: It was obvious they had zero respect for my belongings. Items were thrown around, improperly packed, and handled with complete disregard because they knew their contract protected them from consequences. My Recommendation: RUN. Find literally any other moving company. The combination of unprofessional drunk workers, deceptive business practices, and a contract designed to screw you over makes this the worst possible choice for your move. Bottom Line: Coastal Moving Services and Loadlan LLC are in the business of taking your money while destroying your belongings, all while their crews drink beer and laugh about it. The 80% damage rate speaks for itself. You've been warned - choose ANY other company.

   We had an extremely disappointing experience with this moving company. Despite clearly communicating our building’s move-in restrictions—including permitted days and times—from the outset and reiterating them multiple times throughout the process, the company failed to coordinate accordingly. As a result, the movers arrived on a Friday evening, even though our building only allows weekday moves during business hours. This lack of planning forced us to pay a significant additional fee for weekend storage—an entirely avoidable cost with proper scheduling on their part. To make matters worse, several items from our shipment were missing, including patio chairs, a small ottoman, and a step ladder. We also received multiple damaged items: A mattress that was left completely uncovered, arrived filthy, and had clearly been dragged on the ground A buffet (bottom piece) that was dropped and sustained visible damage Side tables with broken or missing knobs and no screws provided A floor lamp that was unprotected during transit and arrived scratched and dented Additionally, many of the boxes were in rough condition, and since we have not fully unpacked yet, we expect to discover more damage in the coming weeks. We’ve contacted the company with photos and a detailed account, but have yet to receive a meaningful response. Given the lack of professionalism, care, and accountability throughout this process, we cannot recommend this company.

   Sketchy and wouldn't have chose them. Emerald Moving did

   Dropped boxes and broke things before they were even loaded on the truck! Told after everything was loaded it might be 21 days before delivery. Only told "the driver will call 24 hours before delivery" no clue when that will be. They refused payment by bank cashier check and then tried to have we wire money to another company! Suspicious the $ amount for postal money order is just under $3000. After that amount, there is a bunch of paper work to fill out, leaving a paper trail!

   Fraudulent and breaking contract

   They will switch up the payment method, delay their pickup many, many times, delay delivery because they decide to return funds. They are extremely sketchy. Staff uses fake names and are extremely unprofessional. At this point they are holding our things hostage and refusing to deliver because we will not wire funds we already paid.

   Breach of contract and didn’t do their job.

   They said they could get onto military base and couldn’t , they told me they could take all my things and couldn’t, they said I would have to pay delivery and I do , they didn’t pack my stuff I did and they didn’t do anything they said they would . I did the whole move by myself 2 mo post-partum and that was months ago . Now it’s been over a year I don’t have my things because they’re lies cost me everything I had and we couldn’t get back on our feet after or event enough to pay to get our stuff back . They’re holding our things hostage which is illegal and they breached contract too. Don’t work with them they’re a bunch of liars and thieves.

    Stay Away

    I had one of the worst moving experiences of my life with Top Tier Moving Group and their third-party movers, Loadrans. I was quoted $4,000 for a move from California to Florida. But when Loadrans showed up late, they took a lunch break while loading, and then suddenly tried to double the price—demanding another $4,000 on the spot, claiming I hadn’t listed certain items (even though I had been thorough and upfront during the quote process). When I asked for clarification, I was spoken down to, told to “calm down,” and completely disrespected. I wasted my entire day—from 11 AM to 5 PM—trying to deal with this. I felt cornered and had no choice but to move forward under pressure. Even after paying more, they didn’t take everything that was included in the original quote. To make things worse, I called Top Tier Moving Group 16 times during all this. I was hung up on repeatedly by a supervisor named Colleen, who eventually told me I needed to “call during business hours” to get her boss’s name—after the move was already done and the damage was done. This experience was stressful, deceptive, and completely unprofessional. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Avoid these companies at all costs.
