   You Will Pay and Pay and Pay

   DO NOT use this company. I got completely taken for $4,800. Quoted me $21,600 on the very fist quote. Every step after added new fees and new costs. This ended up costing me $26,400. Let's start with the fact that they subcontract a lot of work, so my move involved Riverbend, Great Canadian Van Lines and also Provincial Movers. They tried to up the fuel surcharge by 7% after they quoted me but before the move. I could have cancelled the move but would have lost by $2000 deposit and likely would have had to move the closing date of my house. They came at me with fee after fee. They told me I needed a shuttle service because they could not fit their truck on my street. That was baffling as I lived on a normal everyday street, built in 2001, house was built in 2003, and yet I needed to pay $1365 for them to shuttle my stuff with a smaller truck. They didn't tell me about this fee until after they moved me. Similarly, they added a "decking fee" for exercise equipment that they knew was in the inventory they made me fill out and yet only told me about the decking fee after the move. READ all of their conditions carefully. You may want to hire a lawyer to explain it all. But, maybe, just don’t deal with any of these companies and find someone you can trust. They will hold your stuff hostage until you pay their inflated bill. Don’t believe me, have them send their "Moving Process" conditions to you. Then, after the move, I had to file a claim for them to fix a hole they made in the wall of my new house. They smashed a headboard into the drywall. When making the claim, I get quoted policy after policy. In the end, they offer $150 to fix the hole. $150 won't come close to covering it. They smashed a mirror that they packed. They offered me $200 to replace it. Baffling. Tell me, where do thing I can find a custom made mirror that matches the furniture it was made for, for $200. The theme was, very much, we are doing this their way, and you will pay what we tell you or you won’t get your stuff.

   BAD moving truck driver with this company!

   Hired Riverbend Movers to move furniture items from Point A and deliver them to Point B. Driver could barely back into our driveway narrowly missing our overhead hydro lines! When leaving with our furniture the driver goes over our neighbour’s boulevard destroying part of the boulevard grass and turns left on our one-way street!!! Gets better… he then hits our parked truck which is parked 15 feet or more down our street! UNREAL!!! The best part is they then demanded immediate payment or they were going to take our furniture back to their yard ! What kind of company is this? No apology and no call from anyone at Riverbend. Guess my cost was far lower than the repair bill they are getting for the damage to our truck! I would never use this company again! Not done with them yet….

   Moving

   was very disappointed in this company. They broke the glass in my china cabinet and scraped the wood. Also scraped my TV stand. They sat around a lot in the truck trying to make the move last as long as possible, so they could get paid more. Never would use them again.

   Liars and crooks

   If only I could give 0 stars. I hired Riverbend to move some larger woodworking equipment (home operation) on the basis that they a) claim to move pianos and b) vetted photos of my space, the access route and the weight/size of the tools before they accepted the job. They assured me on multiple occasions that they could handle the job. Day of, they failed to prep appropriately (no pallet jack, no piano slip), and had to go and get those before bringing my tools to my location. After getting the light weight stuff upstairs, the on site team lead decided they really needed four guys to do the job, not three, and that they'd reschedule for the following week. No contact from their office for the rest of the day. Next day I received a response to my email - "I just seen the pictures of the stairs. I don’t think that looks very safe." In response to my complaint that they took the job and charged me for extra employees I didn't need since they couldn't do the job: "As a consolation, we never charged you to move them up, we only charged for where the items are currently located." Oh! Thanks so much for charging me to not do the job you guaranteed you could do Riverbend! I am incredibly mollified, and subsequently happy with your service. /s I agree that it was unsafe. Having seen it all in person. That's not my issue. I'm not upset that they weren't able to continue the job. I'm upset that they took it at all, came unprepared, and didn't properly vet the requirements, despite my supplying them with everything they needed. The gall to complain that they had "just seen the pictures", when I had sent them prior to hiring them. Furthermore, the on site team lead blatantly lied when he said they were coming back, and also when he assured me that they could do it with four guys. Those were basically the last words he said to me before he left for the day, and I found out the following day that he told his supervisor "it's nearly impossible to get the pieces up the stair case." I trusted Riverbend to be professionals who could advise me on what they could/couldn't do before I hired them and they failed spectacularly.

   Overcharged and Wayne lied to BBB

   Everyone should know that this company takes the bill to the office and rewrites it after you sign and and charges more than you expect or agreed to in writing. AND when you complain to the BBB Wayne outright lies. My amex actually reversed the charge because it was fraud. Beware.

   Riverbend moving and storrage scammed us.

   We just moved from Poland to Canada and we had our Piano shipped here, After a google search we decided to hire Riverbend Moving since they were the only one to be found on GOOGLE and they showed up on the first page obviously, we told them about the size of our piano and they quoted us a flat rate of 950 $, mister Wayne showed up and this guy looks like a professional cook that did nothing all his life but ate bacon and cheese but he assured us that he and his partner Chris are professional movers ( I wonder if they have a university diploma ) , mister Wayne had a bite of his bacon assuring us that it would boost his energy, Chris had a sip of Portuguese liquor assuring us that he can only move a Piano after he gets his energy boost, when they lift it up the stairs the piano fell on mister Wayne belly and he start swearing at me telling me that we never told them how big is the Piano, Chris got mad and took a another sip of Portuguese Liquor and tried to improve mister Wayne Morale, then they told us that they are rich anyway and they been doing this for years and they would have to charge me double for such a job, we decided to hold back and refused to pay, then they told me that they wont give us the piano back if we don't pay the bill, I told them that if they refuse to give us the piano that is considered theft, after arguing back and forth they decided to call it a day, our move to canada got ruined by this reputable company, thank you very much.

   Overcharged.

   This company is a joke. Was a nightmare from the start. Movers were late. Couldn’t find the apartment block, went to the block next door instead. Then pulled out and drove way down the street which took them another ten minutes to come back. Dropped the freezer, the water cooler, and a box of antique items and broke a few things. Then couldn’t get the couch in the elevator on the way out and had to call a couple other movers to come move it. When they got to the new place, the my couldn’t get it in the elevator, so took it to their storage for a couple days. Said they would call with the final amount because of all the problems. Never called. Visa was cancelled so they couldn’t put the charge through. But guess what, they sent an invoice to the daughters email without discussing with the client and still put through ont he visa. A small apartment move which was only a block away to the new place, which should have cost only around $500 ended up being charged almost $1200!! What a joke this place is. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone and will be telling everyone I know not to use them.
