Who makes this move
Those are headcounts of movers, not a reason anyone packed a truck.
Census flow both ways. In the 2024 Census ACS, 3,896 people moved from Georgia to Colorado, with a margin of plus or minus 1,574. The reverse count is larger: 4,594 people moved from Colorado to Georgia. Those are headcounts of movers, not a reason anyone packed a truck.
Price levels and wage tax. BEA price parity for 2024, with the US set at 100, puts Georgia at 96.3 and Colorado at 103.1. Georgia taxes wages, and Colorado taxes wages. The indexes do not say what a household will spend after the move, and this page does not quote a tax rate.
What the job looks like
Of those reviews, 55% mention damage and 5% mention a delay or a no-show.
Miles and time on the road. The most common run in our file is Atlanta to Denver, 1,405 miles, about 25 hours of driving. A long-distance move of that length is priced by weight and miles, and the delivery date is a window written on the order for service.
What the reviews record. Our file for this run holds 20 reviews, a small sample. The median reported price is $5,455 across 20 priced reviews, and the middle half of those prices runs $2,250 to $8,700. Prices mix home sizes and distances. Read them as a spread, then get a weight-based figure for your own load.
Damage shows up more than delays. Of those reviews, 55% mention damage and 5% mention a delay or a no-show. With a file this size, one bad unload can move the damage share a lot. Ask for the delivery window in writing before you pay a deposit, and keep photos of anything that matters.
Before you book
On a non-binding estimate the mover must deliver when you pay 110 percent of the estimate.
License before the deposit. An interstate household move needs a mover with an active USDOT number and FMCSA household-goods authority. Check both on the license lookup before any money moves, and save the result with the estimate. Haulest reads estimates and reviews. Haulest is not a carrier.
Binding, or the 110 percent rule. Ask for a binding estimate or a not-to-exceed estimate, and walk the lines with how to read a moving estimate. On a non-binding estimate the mover must deliver when you pay 110 percent of the estimate. The 110 percent rule is the short version of that duty. Put the delivery window in writing on the order for service.
Deposit terms in writing. Read the deposit amount, when it is due, and whether it is refundable if the mover cancels, using the deposit guide. Match that page to the estimate you were given. If the order is thin on dates or fees, pause before you pay.
