   Overcharged and wouldn't give refund until we deleted 1 star review

   We hired Royal Moving Co. for a simple 1 bed, 1 bath apartment move. The quote was $395, and we made their job as easy as possible—most of our stuff was already moved beforehand, and the remaining large furniture pieces were placed in the front room for easy access. My boyfriend even helped them to speed things up. Despite all this, they dragged their feet and took nearly an hour just to load the truck—moving small pieces one by one instead of using common sense and grabbing more than one item at a time. It was incredibly inefficient and clearly done to run the clock. They arrived at the new place about 15 minutes after we did (even though it's a 15-minute drive), then sat in their truck smoking for another 8 minutes before doing anything. Once they finally got out, one of the movers stood on our balcony for nearly 20 minutes fiddling with his card reader, and even accused us of trying to scam him—when we hadn’t even gotten our stuff yet! He refused to start the unload until we paid, and the new total was $564—way above the original quote, with no valid reason. When they finally started unloading, they were incredibly lazy. Most items were dumped in the middle of the floor, even after I told them where they should go. Again, my boyfriend had to step in and help. Naturally, we left a 1-star review. After that, the company reached out and offered us a $78 refund—but only if we deleted the review. That alone tells you everything you need to know. We agreed, deleted it, and guess what? They only refunded us $50. This company is unprofessional, dishonest, and completely shady. They waste your time, overcharge, and use manipulative tactics to cover up their bad service. Avoid them at all costs.

Following a thorough conversation, we agreed to discount your move by half an hour, effectively bringing your charge down to our two-hour minimum. As explained, the adjusted refund was $58.50, accounting for the outstanding balance of $14 on the original invoice. Your boyfriend acknowledged this agreement, and we considered the matter resolved amicably. Regarding the specific concerns mentioned, we provided your boyfriend with GPS records clearly showing our movers' travel time was just 24 minutes without any stops, contradicting the claim of unnecessary delays. We take pride in transparency and accountability, which is why we shared this data directly. Additionally, we want to clarify that at no point did we condition the refund on removing your review—we only respectfully ask customers to update or reconsider their reviews if issues are resolved satisfactorily. We regret that despite addressing your concerns, you still feel this way. Ultimately, your final bill reflects our 2 hour minimum service charge, and even if your move had been completed in less time, this minimum charge would have still applied.    Royal Moving and Storage Company was hired to provide “fully bonded and insured professional moving services” including quilt pad wrapping the furniture per Contract. While moving, the items were not handled with care, none of the furniture was quilt-pad wrapped, items were piled on top of each other, and the crew used their feet kicking the furniture and TV to cram the items into the elevator. Upon arrival at the destination (2nd location) the crew held the furniture hostage in the truck. They refused to unload the furniture until the invoice was signed and paid under duress with NO opportunity to assess the condition of the furniture. The workers instructed us to contact the office with any issues. A $300 upholstered platform bed base was damaged during the move. The bed base is ~ 1 yr. old and is unrepairable. Royal Moving and Storage was contacted multiple times regarding the damaged bed base; however, they refuse to take responsibility for their actions and the damage they caused. Royal Moving & Storage Company did not provide the services contracted/paid for. They are not taking responsibility for the damage caused by their crew. BEWARE, if you proceed with this unscrupulous, fraudulent, and deceptive company, do NOT sign the invoice until your furniture has been unloaded and inspected!

   Worst moving experience ever.

   I have made many local moves in Jacksonville and most have been from great to average. This was by far the very worst. The move was grossly underestimated (luckily I had made this kind of move before). The two movers did not get along. They had a car accident on the way to the storage unit delaying the whole move by over an hour. One mover was loading my things into the storage unit while on the phone the whole time. He refused to get off the phone after 3 requests from myself, my husband and the supervisor of the move. He was dumping things on top of my couch without any protection. Boxes were being stacked upside down. It was the most distressing thing to watch. A shelf unit broke down into pieces, they broke the base of our standing lamp, and I have no idea what shape our things will be in when we get them out of storage. After all of that, not a single person called us from the mover after all the issues to apologize for the delay and for the issues with their worker. They literally took our money and left.
