   Two good SML experiences

   Load-up session: 4-member team was prompt, courteous, respectful of property, and three of them worked really hard. The 4th fellow was a sad chap with a leg injury and low energy. The team overall was just great. On Load-out, the 4-person team turned out to be only 3 guys, and they arrived just a bit late (the arrival was scheduled between 10 and 11, and arrival was 11:08; communication could have been better). But the three guys worked very hard and got it all done. I will definitely use SML again. It’s a great employment concept, and both teams I workedwith delivered excellent results.

   The good and the bad

   The team that loaded our truck in Virginia were a little bit of a train wreck. They would leave without proper communication to my wife. They reeked of Marijuana. There loading skills were not the best and we went from "Everything will fit" to "oh well". Not pleased with that crew at all. The team that unloaded us in Ohio were top notch. Very professional, courteous, and engaged. I would use them again.

   Late

   The movers were supposed to be at my home between 8:30 and 9:30 per my special request which was accepted by your company. At 10 I got an email they would be there shortly. At 10:15 I called and was advised they were running behind and would be there in 30 minutes. At 11 I called and were advised they got held up in traffic hopefully they would be there in 30 minutes. Shortly before 12 they arrived. They did apologize and got right to work loading the truck. However, by that time we had already brought quite a bit of stuff out into the driveway for them to load. When you are making a long distance move from Florida to Colorado time is of the essence. Put alot of stress on us that was unnecessary.

   60 yo men unloading truck

   There was a time limit on how long the movers could stay. The did as little as possible so at the time they were to leave they had to literally dump it in the garage. Only one of the two could speak or read English. Sooo...labels on boxes were not read or applied.I tried to explain that the furniture would need to be along the wall and the boxes in the middle. They refused to listen and wasted a lot of time moving boxes to the center like i suggested. While I was getting ready to pay, the man who spoke English kept trying to get me call some phone number even after I explained I had a link to u se.I went in to get money to pay them and noticed my purse had a giant mirror from the bathroom in it. I had just traveled cross country and that alarmed me about my cash. My sister, who was in the house said the ssecond mover was ligering in the room where my purse was. When they got to the house I went into the Den and put my cash securely in my purse. When I went to take it out to pay them it was short 300 bucks. I know it is my word against theirs and nothing could be done but I wanted to warn people. Don't let them separate and don't let them go back and forth from their vehicle. I would never use SML again.

   NOT SATISFIED

   SML IS NOT MOVING COMPANY BUT RATHER A BROKER FOR MOVING COMPANIES. THEY HAVE NOT VETTED THOSE COMPANIES AND DO NOT INTERVENE WHEN THERE IS EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE. IF USING PENSKE TRUCK RENTAL IT IS BEST TO HIRE DIRECT WITH A LOCAL COMPANY. NEVER AGAIN. THIS WAS ONLY A 1/4 TRUCK UNLOAD. MOVERS ARRIVED FOUR HOURS LATE AND DID NOT KNOW THE COMPANY THEY WERE "WORKING" FOR. I CALLED SML AND THEY SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING. BUT, I COULD FILE A COMPLAINT, WHICH I DID. STILL SILENCE FROM SML.

   Move from TX to MN

   I paid for 3 hours. They brought a fourth who was not supposed to be there. This guy was listening to music and would not listen to my directions. I caught him going thru my toolbox! He just opened it up. I asked what he's doing and he said he was looking for an Alan wrench. I loaned it to him and never got it back. Not sure what other tools are missing. I had moving blankets out that were laid over a second box of blankets. They put it in the truck and refused to look for it! I told them 5 times they packed them. I gave directions on how I wanted my items packed and they would not listen to me. Kept looking at the lead guy. I had two storage containers. They jammed most of belongings in one! They were only there for an hour and a half! I never knew they left! They left all my doors open. I'm so angry . I looked in the last container where my brand new furniture and large framed pics were. They were thrown in there! No blankets! I couldn't reach the items to fix them. I reached out and sent email of pics with no response. I unload my belongings in about a month. I'm afraid of what I will find. If my furniture is ruined I will definitely connect with a live person. Bad service

   No so good, Short distance, 6 miles

   I hired these guys after they gave me what I thought was a good proposal. The task was to empty a POD (7' x 7' x 8') that was HALF full. No furniture, and the heaviest item was 50 lbs. (I loaded the POD in an hour and 15 minutes with a 14 year boy). I was told I would get a truck, 2 men and a dolly. This would have been perfect since all my boxes were two sizes, small and medium. Again, there was no furniture or large items. They were easy to stack and move. However, on moving day I got two men with lifting straps. Loading their truck from my POD went fast and easy since they were able to park their truck next to the POD and did not require their lifting straps. However, they got lost on the 6 mile drive to my apartment, which is time that I had to pay for. Then the two guys trying to lift 9 boxes at a time went ridiculously slow. In fact, they borrowed my hand truck to move boxes since it made more sense than their straps. They charged me additional time which, if they hadn't got lost would not have been necessary.

   My movers never showed up or called. Poor service. Really put me in a bind. I had to hire last minute movers from somewhere else and it cost me 3 times the amount.

    Never Showed and No One answers!

    They never showed or called. I tried to call their service and only got put on hold, then voicemail, then disconnected. They left my daughter who is moving home stranded with no help for larger heavier pieces. Do not recommend, service is terrible! They billed my credit card on the 18th, sent a confirmation email on the 20th, and then never showed up on the 21st. Very Dissatisfied!
