Move from Timisoara Romania to Oxfordshire UK
A very stressful business from start to finish with Bishops. I was given bad advice regarding the completion of the Tor, resulting in the failure to secure the necessary paperwork from Customs and Excise twice. Bishops allowed two days to load 33m2. In actual fact the crew of three loaded all my goods (I had not opted for their packing service) in just 3.5 hours. Whereas I was led to believe I had a direct move from A to B, my goods were unloaded twice, once in Holland and the second time in the UK, before being delivered to me. When I checked the labels on my goods after delivery, the destination was Woudenburg, Holland - not my home in Oxfordshire. From there my goods were shipped to the UK. My move had been subcontracted to Easy Shipping and also Schmidt. The crews that both collected and delivered my goods were excellent, I should have gone to Easy Shipping or Schmidt in the first place and probably saved a fortune. I was told by Bishops my shipment was delayed due to the van having broken down in Holland, whereas Holland was the destination on the paperwork. When I contacted Grant Bishop, allowing him time to explain why I had been so badly misled, before I posted a review, he became quite defensive and responded by saying ‘Sharon, (my contact at Bishops) has been doing the job for over 25 years and is incredibly experienced. He failed to adequately explain why I had been misinformed or apologise for the unnecessary stress I had been put under. All in all this was the worst move I've had in 30 years of expat life in Eastern Europe. This should have been the most straightforward of all my moves but sadly it wasn't. I most definitely wouldn't recommend Bishops for an international move. Carol Crowther

DO NOT USE
We used Bishops Move, we were moving from UK to Spain. What a complete living nightmare from start to finish. We was told it would be no longer than 3 weeks door to door. However weeks later we were still waiting, the office in Crawley failed to respond to any of our emails and phone calls. Finally it arrived so many items damaged, it looked like everything had been thrown into their lorries, when we contacted them to try to claim on insurance and after countless emails and phone calls we got nowhere!! Please do not use this company!! moving house is stressful! But moving countries is even more so especially with this bunch of cowboys. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Response from Bishops Move
Hi Stephen, We are sorry to read your review. Please can you email marketing@bishopsmove.com your customer reference number so that we can investigate this further internally as we have spoken to both our branches and International division, and we have no records of your move to Spain with us at the moment.

DO NOT USE
We used Bishops move back in June!, we were moving from Spain to Cyprus. What a complete living nightmare from start to finish. We was told it would be no longer than 3 weeks door to door. However 13 weeks later we were still waiting, the office in Gibraltar failed to respond to any of our emails and phone calls. My wife was stressed more than when we had our first child! For 13 weeks we had no furniture ( bed sofa etc) and ended up renting an apartment which cost us over €4000. Finally it arrived and we had damage to furniture a €3,700 Tempur mattress and legs missing to the bed. We paid over €600 in insurance but after countless emails and phone calls we got nowhere!! Please do not use this company!! moving house is stressful! But moving countries is even more so especially with this bunch of cowboys. A special shout out to Kim and Steve who were absolutely useless!! Steve never answered your calls and Kim was just very Rude! It’s taken me a long time to write this review purely because they wound us both up so much!. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Do Not Use. I asked for a quote for a full packing service and removal. I itemised every item of furniture to be moved from their checklist (and added some that didn’t appear on their list). I was asked to estimate how many boxes of packing needed. I estimated 60. To cut a long story short the team moved most of our furniture but not all, and 12 boxes, leaving 53 behind. The customer service trying to deal with this has been some of the worst I have ever experienced. I have been told that the reason so much wasn’t moved was because of the volume of items, something I was not asked to estimate. I estimated 60 boxes of contents and we ended up with 65 (within their 15% tolerance). I dealt with 4 people in the run up to our move, I had to chase our quote. The responses to emails are rude and pointedly placing blame on me for something that they themselves have said they never asked me to estimate. I will never move again using Bishops.

Nightmare experience
This was the worst shipping company I ever used. They delayed my shipment by months, didn't keep me updated and ended up charging me for crating my goods when they hadn't done it. All I got was endless excuses and backtracking on arrangements. Terrible experience
Response from Bishops Move
Dear Lagonda We are sorry to read your review and have investigated this with our International team. Having looked through our correspondence and notes, we can see that our team did advise you at all stages of your move, even after you cancelled your shipment with us at the last minute. This was unexpected as, despite a slight delay with the initial loading of your shared groupage container, we were on track to deliver your items within the advised estimated time of 6-12 weeks, subject to routings and customs clearance (which is industry standard). With regards to costs, we can assure you that you have not been charged "through the roof", but simply the costs for the services you have used; export packing, collection from your property, retrieval of shipment and storage. Unfortunately we could not reimburse your for crating, as this was only quoted as an additional service to which you did not opt or pay for, despite your above statement. Plus, as a gesture of goodwill, you received approx 2 months of free storage and were also not charged for handling fees in and out of store, despite us incurring our own additional costs.

We were persuaded by a friend to change from Pickfords to Bishops 12 years ago. The treatment has rankled ever since. Many items such as child's bicycle, garden equipment never arrived, They were never found. The first step in the move was an estimator who gave us a quote which we accepted. We were then caught by a well known scam. Only part of our belongings arrived including our bed WITHOUT ITS LEGS. We were told the estimator had got the container space wrong and if we wanted the rest it would cost another 20% for a further shared container. Over a barrel we had to pay. Deal with this company with care to avoid our experience.
Response from Bishops Move
Dear Mr Gilchrist We are sorry to read your review, however, we cannot find a recent move in your name on our system. It seems a little odd that you refer to a "well known scam" as there really are none in moving. Please can you email marketing@bishopsmove.com to confirm your customer details with us. Thank you.

Move from Wales to Wolverhampton
Even though we moved some time ago, our treatment by Bishops Move still rankles. Asked to sign over furniture whilst distracted and stressed. Later we regretted signing. After sorting things out, several items were missing such as new ironing board, broom, doormats etc. They said they would reimburse £70 (not much considering the loss of the furniture). Money never received. Therefore cannot recommend this firm.
Response from Bishops Move
Dear Mrs Hunter We are sorry to read your review. Please can you email marketing@bishopsmove.com with your customer number so that we can verify it, as unfortunately we cannot find you as a customer on our system at the moment.

Very disappointed.
This isn’t the first time we’ve worked with the company and we were very happy previously, which is why we opted to use the service again. Now we are beyond disappointed. We booked a shipment of personal items to be shipped from London to Progresso Port in Mexico. Bishop’s Move shipped to Veracruz without telling us, which is 1000 miles from us. They didn’t even seem to understand that they were different ports even claiming that there was not a port in Progresso. This is all costing us a great deal, particularly as Bishop’s Move had no idea that only customs brokers, at the specific port, with specific certifications could clear personal items, meaning they kept insisting that we use the broker we originally employed in Progresso. Over a period of weeks all we received were excuses and no explanations or assistance. The marketing department promised to investigate and get back to us. We’ve never had a reply. An international shipping company should have some idea of where they will be landing the items they are shipping and keep their customers informed. This did not happen and we are still in the middle of a nightmare, 8 weeks on, trying to sort this out. Given our previous experience, it seems their customer care has gone down the tubes.

Awful experience : additional costs and 600£ coffee machine broken.
Awful experience : additional costs and 600£ coffee machine broken I had the worst experience we could imagine. First the added additional costs because they planned to bring a 15 meters long truck to do a removals inside Paris ! Any professional company in the removals business should check before bringing such a big truck inside a big city. So they couldn't take in my furnitures because they couldn't park and I had to pay some extra fees so another van could come (I gave them the address and some google view pictures of the place). He came with just one man to remove a bed among other things, so my brother in law had to help him ! Moreover it added a 10 days delay even if it was taken the same day. It is not yet finished, during the removals there was some shock so my coffee machine ( a Jura ) costing £600 was broken. The removals guys told me I could check and signal if anything is broken in the 7 following days. But in fact I had to signal that some packs were open and some others deformed because of some shocks. When I asked to be reimbursed , even partially, they told me I had no insurance since they didn't packed it by themselves and because I didn't signal that some packs were damaged. They proposed me £40 as a "gesture of good will" A nightmare .. My advice : choose an other company, ask them to pack your stuff and check your packages when they bring it to your home and signal any little damage in the boxes !
Response from Bishops Move
We are sorry to read your review and have conducted a thorough investigation into the removal from initial planning, scheduling and execution. Please find your points addressed accordingly: In initial planning of your removal we did check the access points in Paris and noted that a height restriction is listed at 3.9m. We had informed you and were assured by yourself that you “had confirmation there is no height limitation”. However, upon arrival it was apparent this was not the case. Unfortunately there was a delay with your employer approving the additional costs to transfer to a smaller vehicle. Finally, regarding damages, all boxes being moved were pre-packed and not packed by Bishop’s Move and we therefore cannot determine the conditions of the items inside the boxes. No boxes were reported to have had damage on delivery and there was no evidence to suggest any damage to your items happened in our care. As you had no insurance we did offer you a small sum as money solely as a gesture of good will. It is unfortunate that these scenarios occurred but we did work hard at all times to help your move go ahead despite the issues that presented themselves.

Loretta Napoleoni.
Abysmal service and communication. Never got a full list of items collected from my house, the packing inside the containers was very very bad, they broke several items and then then they lost one of the containers. It took weeks to find it. Then they presented me with a huge outstanding bill, they wanted me to pay for the time they searched for my staff. I am still waiting to collect my last items, they keep referring to different people. I strongly advise NOT to use them.
