They cost me my sanity
If you value your time, your money, and most of all your sanity, not use this company. They said they would send their largest moving truck. Which they did - but it was already 1/4 full with someone else's stuff. So a good portion of our belongings did not fit. We were moving across the country and leaving by plane the next day! We had no options! The remainder of our stuff had to sit in a neighbours garage until BB could send another truck to pick it up. Then they gave my neighbour the runaround about actually picking it up, poor girl. It sat in her garage for almost two weeks. When my two loads were finally reunited, they sat together in a warehouse for a crazy long time instead of being shipped out immediately like they promised. Meanwhile, we were sitting in an empty house at the other end of the country. EMPTY. We had to buy many new items just to get by - dishes, linens, cleaning stuff, etc. Which means now we have duplicates we don't need. They told us so many times that the loads were on their way, which wasn't true - we had placed AirTags in a few of the boxes, so we knew exactly where our belongings were. Finally, after our stuff arrived, many items were missing and/or damaged. The young men who were sent to move our stuff in were great, except when they broke the leg off my antique china hutch, they drove a screw into the front of it to fix it! I couldn't stop them, but I almost cried. It now has to be repaired professionally but that damage will always be obvious to me. Several of our boxes had been sliced into purposely. My husband had two boxes labelled "Comic Books" and someone had taken a sharp object and sliced open the sides of BOTH boxes in the exact same way and rummaged through. Thankfully nothing of value was taken. The would-be burgler didn't know what he should look for, I guess. Getting compensation from them took FIVE MONTHS. Even the independent furniture repair guy they hired in the end refused to deal with him. We had BB pay us for the repair, and we will pay him. If I could save even one person from using them, I'd be happy.

Hire anyone else
Really not worth the stress. Was initially told that our move of a 1+ den would take 9 days average from Toronto to Vancouver. Booked and paid deposit and then the truth came out.. average actually was 20 days. 34 days later we had not received anything- just many lies from customer service. They claimed that our things were in a 4-7 day train transit for over 10 days. Didn't tell us that the movers were coming to deliver, just showed up on day 35. No apologies or attempts to rectify any mistakes. We still don't have our things because we had no notification to book the moving elevator with our building (even though I repeatedly told them that I need 48 hours notice to book the service elevator). If you are considering them, please look elsewhere. I wanted to support a small business but honestly this customer service is despicable.

NOT RECOMMENDED
What started out promisingly for my move from Edmonton to Toronto turned into a horrible experience. The initial contact with the sales team was handled promptly and professionally, and the quote provided was reasonable. I was advised that my possessions would be shipped by rail and was provided a guaranteed delivery window of 6 to 17 days. While quite a wide range, at least it was “guaranteed”. On the day of the move, I was called and advised that one of the two-person crew had not shown up for work and they were trying to find another worker. They eventually did, but my whole moving day was delayed as a result. The team that showed up were polite but rather slow. When I booked, I was told that the crew on moving day would be able to provide me with a more precise date for delivery at the other end. When I asked, they said they had no idea and I would need to contact the office. The office would only reconfirm the range I was previously provided, but said I should follow up and they could give me a more firm date soon. As I left town and began my own drive to Toronto, I followed up every day with my “moving concierge” but either got no response or was told they did not know yet. It was only downhill from there. After I arrived in Toronto, I was in regular contact with the “concierge” as well as the logistics manager in Vancouver. Neither could give me a sense of when my possessions would arrive. I had fortunately left Apple Air-tags in several of my boxes, and knew that my possessions had not even left Edmonton and were at Burly Boyz’s warehouse. As my “maximum guaranteed” 17 days window came closer, I pressed the company’s representatives for an answer on when my possessions would even leave Edmonton and why they were not already on the way. ONLY THEN was I told the real truth. The company only ships from a location when they have enough to fill a full train container. My possessions were less than that, which they knew based on both the original estimate and the confirmed inventory when my possessions were picked up. AT NO POINT did they ever advise me that the “guaranteed 6-17 day shipping window” was entirely dependent on whether they had enough other business to fill a shipping container! Due to their delay and lack of honesty, I began having to incur costs to live without my possessions. They weather went from warm fall weather to cold and snowy. I had no boots, warm coats, gloves, etc., as I had no expectation that I would not see my possessions before winter hit. I advised the company’s representatives that this was the case and asked whether they would compensate me for these costs and for the delay beyond their “guaranteed delivery window”. I was continually given the run-around on getting any kind of answer. I was told by the “concierge” that she would ask her superiors, but was made to wait days for any kind of answer. When I repeatedly asked to speak to someone higher up in management, I was told that “ownership” did not speak to customers and that I could only speak to those I was already in contact with. Online searches could not provide any information on company management, and when I called to try to reach someone with decision-making authority, I only heard back from the same people I was already dealing with. My shipment ultimately arrived 3 full weeks beyond the “guaranteed delivery window”. 38 days for a shipment to get from Edmonton to Toronto! And then, when the movers showed up at my residence, I was told they would not even open the truck until I paid the outstanding balance in full. AND if I did not, then I would be charged additional amounts for “storage” if they drove away without unloading. Essentially, my possessions were being held hostage, regardless of the company knowing there was a dispute over the delay in delivery plus the costs I had to incur. I spoke to my “moving concierge” to again express my disappointment and was advised they would provide a $600 discount. I indicated that was insufficient but would pay the balance on the understanding that there would be further discussion to reach an amicable resolution. She indicated she would take the issue back to “ownership”. Ha! What a joke. After they got my money, I got an email advising that the $600 was all they could offer due to their “internal policies”. Essentially, we have your money now, so go away. This company practices and internal policies, that are never disclosed to customers in advance, should make anyone wary of using them for a move. I did my homework in advance, asked all the right questions and was told whatever I needed to hear to get my business. But once they had my possessions, any kind of reputable customer service stopped. What kind of business, knowing that a customer is extremely unhappy, won’t even have someone with the ability to make a decision speak to the customer?

If you value your belongings....
Burly boyz moved my belongings from Toronto to Rural Alberta. When the movers showed up in Toronto they were moving boxes from 2nd floor to main on brand new maple stairs. My partner and a friend ended up moving the boxes since they did not want to stop doing it this way. The movers damaged a dresser, sofa leg, outdoor table (they bent leg and scratched top of table all over it). I had 2 chairs and 2 kayaks go missing, these showed up 3 months after move and 1 kayak has damage. I bought extra insurance, not understanding it is still up to the moving company, how they fix the damage, whether they fix it, and if the payout is enough to cover the cost of damage. They did pay out full amount for outdoor table excluding taxes. It has left me wishing I would have moved myself. At least I would not have damaged anything. Instead I'm left with a bunch of damaged pieces and a sad feeling.. I also wish I could give a zero.

Where’s the Zero star rating???
We used Burley Boyz for our move from Calgary area to St St Albert. The sent 1/2 a crew to do entire house in one day. Said, be there at 10, showed up at 4. We had to be out that night, renters moving in next day. Guys worked like dogs all day. Way too much for 2. Left a pile of thing in garage that night and left. Renters not so happy with home next day. Stuff went into storage for about 9 months. When we got new home, stiff showed up, so much damage. Movers were embarrassed, said never seen it so bad. Started dealing with them on damages. Seemed to take forever. I had to get most of places to replace repair things. Then 3-4 months in they switched who I was dealing with. She had zero idea what had transpired. Didn’t bother to check with last guy. He was “busy” moving now. Could not speak to him or whom ever was the manager there. They refused to tell me who was in charge. Girl said this is what we will pay you, no negotiation. Take it or leave it. So much they didn’t pay for. Total scam artists they are, outright lied to my face. Princess house good destroyed, got ZERO for this. Thats right ZERO $$. Never never use these guys. You will get scammed. They lost our snowblower!!!! Guys didn’t write it on manifest so screw you. They lost so much of our Christmas decorations but its all just listed Christmas stuff. How do you check a list like that?? Awful customer service. Insurance is a joke they sell you. Do not replace value of item, they depreciate it. $100 metal Christmas ornament gave us $10. What a joke. Terrible just terrible -100 star rating.

AVOID- Big damage caused
Exactly one year ago this company damaged our balcony with their truck!!! They don’t take responsibility even all data including pictures are there as evidence ! They don’t even show up at the police investigation! Such a bad business behaviour. Now we go to court! Avoid trouble and don’t hire this company!!!

Do not hire.
Please do not hire this moving company. Destroyed walls, broke a light fixture and then DENIED it.. complained non stop about having to take apart furniture. Didn’t put hardly anything back together. Stated I should have been to take things apart, when I clearly was not told. My day was a complete nightmare and I will be telling everyone I know to not use this company. Complete waste of 2 grand.

Taking Burly Boyz to court.
After Covid finally allowed for a repair technician in to fix the damage to our television that was broken during our move, Omar (the owner) refused to follow through with his original offer to have the unit fixed. I have filled a civil suit and will update again once the suit is resolved.

Disappointed !
We had received very high reviews for Burly Boyz, but come the day of the move we were very disappointed. Although the movers (3 of them) were very friendly, they were not very careful with our furniture. Some of our items got damaged, and the supervisor outright admitted that was from the way they packed the truck. When calling to see what could be done for compensation, we were told not much because of the insurance package we chose. So ... if the company admits the damages caused were totally their fault, you would think there would be an exception to the rule ... nope! NOT IMPRESSED!!! Will not be recommending Burly Boyz to anyone.

NEVER AGAIN
my recommendation is that no one ever use this moving company! On moving day, no one showed up. Turns out, my point of contact cancelled my move without notifying me based on a text that I had sent saying that the address of where I was moving had changed, but that everything else would remain the same. Once I finally managed to sort it out, they were a day late and I still tipped them over 200 dollars because I felt badly that the Managerial staff had put their moving staff in such a bad position. One of their management team called me to apologize and offered me $200 off my 0ver $6000 move. I reminded him that I had tipped their moving staff more than that. Never heard from him again. Then on the move in day one the movers fell down the stairs, hit his head and knocked himself out. Calling their Safety officer was a joke. She literally said "I have other things going on right now **sigh**." Then when she was talking to the movers on the phone I could hear her swearing and dropping off bombs left and right. So unprofessional. Then had the audacity to ask me to drive all three of the movers to the nearest town with a hospital at 10 at night with zero regard for my own exhaustion. I did so because they were stuck otherwise, because the company does not send its staff with a corporate card or any money of any kind in case they get into a jam. When the movers returned the next day to pick up their truck, one of them was covered in bed bug bites because that safety officer booked them into the cheapest dirtbag motel possible. As I was unpacking I realized that they had broken about 60% of my stuff and to this day I haven't heard back from them even after taking the time to drive their staff to a hospital in a completely different town. I wanted to save the moving staffs reputation here but I don't think that the managerial staff left me any room to do that. The highers lack of effort caused their staff to look really badly and work even worse. Nothing was assembled either. Please use this as a caveat before you hire Burly Boyz.
Response from Burly Boyz Moving & Storage
Hello Sharnee. Yes there was a series of unfortunate events surrounding your move and for that we apologize. This is not typical of our business and management had spoke to you to compensate you for the troubles. We had provided you with $300 in compensation last month. In regards, to the 60% of your items damaged is new to us. As for our Health and Safety Manager she didn't book the cheapest hotel and your conversation with her was quite friendly vs. what you described above.
