   Very Satisfying.

   My husband and I purchased a house in Whitby last month and were looking around for quotes to get an idea on how much it would cost us for our move with a moving service and with a rental service like U-haul. I put up my information on a website (which I thought was one moving company, to get a quote a couple of weeks ahead of time, but it turns out they just give your information to like, a 100 moving companies or so) and I was bombarded with calls and emails. After getting a couple of quotes from different companies and comparing the ups and downs of the two different options we had (using a moving service or doing it ourselves) we went with a moving service and chose Ryder out of a couple of other choices like Selective, El cheapo, Landmark. Ryder stood out because unlike other quotes we got Ryder split there costs up which stood out to us because it was more upfront on what we could expect in the end. They had a per hour rate with labour and travel, and had a separate section with a flat rate for fuel cost, Which was $150.00. The sales agent Aaron was also very good with putting up with us LOL because I would call him non stop everyday just to ask questions on how everything was going to work hah (I was very stressed because we have 2 kids and this is our first house and everything financial wise was very tight too) Anyways he was always very kind and gave answers to questions im sure I asked him atleast 30 times. Fast forward to moving day which was just 3 days ago, the movers came a little late which had me worried because Im a worrier XD, - My husband says I just need a reason to be worried and I'll get worked up on it like Trump on a Mexican. Anyways they showed up and it was two big guys that looked like Hells Angels, Steven Tyler and Ben Kingsley had kids.. But these guys were pretty nice. They loaded everything we told em to and didn't damage anything, but a little scratch on my beds headboard - which my husband and I waved off because it was very little and wouldn't show after the bed was assembled. The move took almost 9 hours, but finally finished in time for dinner. We payed them in cash, like we agreed and they left finishing the move. Over all the experince was very satisfying, the only thing that prevents a 5 star is they came a little later then the time agreed upon and actually tried charging my husband for the time they were on lunch. They took an hour. after a quick call to Aaron they didn't say anything to us haha XD I would recommend them to others, they provide a very good service for a reasonable price. in total we paid $940.00.

   Ryder Moving.

   Just wanted to say my husband and I had a pleasant experience with moving out stuff across the country. Showed up for pick up right on time and delivered a day before expected. Final price lined up with original quote and friendly service. We did have to call them for updates but as someone who has worked in logistics, I realize this happens a lot. We had a good experience overall.

   A misleading experience.

   In spite of how it feels when you go through a move with these people it's not *actually* a scam.. It's pretty close and has scammy things about it though. Here's how it works: You probably went to one site and got a million moving quotes right? Right. They're all the same thing..ish. All these "companies" are independent booking agents for a larger moving "company" (green moving or blue ocean) the larger company (green/blue) then goes on to hire independent drivers. THIS IS WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU when you book your move you pay a deposit to hold the pick up drop off windows. They'll be late for those and here's why *this is key* - The larger central hubs (green/blue) wait until there is a large number of pick ups in the same area to send out one of their "drivers" so they only have to make one trip, then they ship everyone's stuff off to a warehouse where it waits for enough pick up and drop offs in the destination area to make one trip. They are not careful with your stuff, if/when they break anything they pay out (after MONTHS of chasing them) 60 cents/pound of whatever is broken. And they do not care they lied to you in the booking process. They don't care about our reviews. The independent bookers ("ryder moving and storage") will just change their number and name. Google their phone number, it's a rogers cell phone. The website? Registered in July 2016 by the same guy in Mississauga who did all the other company's sites you got quotes from. And the quotes are BS.. they'll just make up whatever charge when they arrive cause they can.. if you don't pay they take your stuff to a storage locker where it racks up charges you have to pay and then pay out of pocket to go pick up yourself once everyone is paid their arbitrary prices. I was quoted $640 for a move from AB to BC and after a month of waiting I was charged $2,300. So while this seems like a scam, especially cause this "Mattheu" guy at "ryder" switches back and forth his name from Mattheu to Alex (it's TOTALLY the same guy lol), it *isn't* a scam, just a god awful business. If it was a true scam they'd take your deposit and cancel their phone number.. or just stop answering the phone after picking your stuff up as they sell it on kijiji.. if you threaten to call the cops their script says "you can certainly do what you feel is necessary" ..the cops will call and they won't get an answer then the cops will call you back and tell you this is a civil matter cause you signed a contract and there's no real time limit to them having to deliver your stuff. It'd be a different experience if they just said, "look, we have to wait till there's a number of pick ups and drop offs in you pick up and drop off areas to make this worth our while.." but then you wouldn't book them and that'd be it.. so there ya go.

   Nightmare Experience.

   This company is a complete joke. When you google moving companies be very cautious. We were given a very low quote to move our 3 bedroom house from Alberta to Ontario. We were sceptical due to the very low quote of 1200. Very soon we received emails from a dozen other companies with the same quote. We assumed if a dozen other companies are giving us the same quote it must be correct. Fast forward to the moving day. 3 days in a row they were no shows. Finally they ended up showing at 7:00pm and didn't leave our home until 12:30am!! I have never heard of a moving company working this late. In fact they showed up in a semi that has "Landmark" written on the truck and the contract I signed was from Green Movers. The movers were grumpy, had NO knowledge of the company. They even told me they had never heard of Ryder Moving. I was super uncomfortable. The next day at 8:30 am I received a call from their "head office" that our belongings had arrived in Toronto and I had to pay 4500. I said that is impossible and told her the truck only left my house 8 hours ago and it was a 35 hour drive. I said there is no way those guys could have made that drive. She said oh right.. they took it to CP rail and that's how it got here so quick, again I said it not possible and you also quoted me 1200!! not 4500!! She said if I didn't pay right now that they would no longer be responsible for what happened to my belongings. I asked her if that was a threat, she said no threat but we are no longer responsible if something happens to happen to them. Meanwhile I am worrying about getting myself across the country and worried my things are going to be destroyed. While this is happening I am watching the news and low and behold they did this to another person from out my neck of the woods. They hold your things hostage. I got in contact with her, she had been contacted by the police who informed her they were under investigation. The members were actually arrested!! They were also warned these men may be gang related and to be cautious. We heard they had relations to a turkish mafia. This sounds all made up but it if you ever had to deal with these criminals you would understand it is much closer to the truth then you would think. They held our things hostage and continued to threaten us. We decided to go to the address on the contract on young street in Toronto. Surprise Surprise is was a FAKE ADDRESS and the security guard working in the building said we were not the first ones to show up looking for this company. Long story short we ended up paying the price and got all of our things back in good condition but this was an experience from a nightmare. One of those experiences you only read about. STAY AWAY from them. Pay the extra money for a reputable company. It will be worth it. Oh and PS: we were living in an empty house sleeping on the floor at our new house for over 2 weeks.

   My worst nightmare came true.

   Alex gave me 3 quotes, th highest being for a 3 bedroom house. I was in a one bedroom apartment. I told him that I was a senior on a fixed income, had never had a big out of town move and didn't want any expected charges at the end. The movers were to come Wed. Aug 30 after lunch. I had my car packed and was leaving early Thursday morning. By 2:00 pm, I was in panic mode. I called and was told that the truck broke down and they would come on Friday, Sept. 1. And I was told trucks do break down. Well a telephone call would have been nice. My landlord could have easily charged me another months rent, but I had been there for 23 years. Alex quoted me $2,440 plus a 5% senior discount. There was no fridge, stove, washer, dryer, freezer, couch, no coffee and end tables. I did have two 2 drawer filing cabinets. After sleeping on the floor for 5 nights I got a call that delivery would be at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and to have a bank draft ready for $3,472, no credit cards to avoid charges in dispute. I was told I would be refunded and overages. There was a 200 destination fee and $205 packing fee. I had left notes all over but nobody read them, so they brought 2 large area rugs and also my garbage. Weight equals money. My stuff arrived at 5:30 pm. They did put my bed together because I was a senior and a nice lady but told they could have charged me an additional $250 for set up fee. The mirror of my dresser is still not attached, no time and they told me they had done too much already. The next morning I received another email charging me an extra 373.50 more so the total came to $3,845.50. My savings are depleted. I had surgery Sept 21 and could not handle a battle at this time. Alex deserves an academy award for the biggest con job on a senior moving from Sault Ste Marie to London for medical reasons. So much for a quote in writing. Good thing I got rid of my heavy couch a few days ahead of my move. I am happy that I did a big purge and got rid of a lot of stuff. And I hired Ryder but the bills came from Green Moving and Storage. Unbelievable way to start my retirement.

   Do Not Book Them!!

   I booked my move from AB to NS with this company a month before my moving date. I spoke to a representative who reassured me over and over that my stuff would be moved safely and picked up on time. I needed this reassurance as I had a bad experience with a cross country move before. Sure enough moving day comes and no moving truck showed up in the window I was given (Fri-Sun). Nobody called me once and I had a deadline to be out of my place by Monday, which I had informed the company. I called the dispatch number they gave me over 100 times but there was never an answer. Because I had to be out of my place by Monday and it was a weekend and all other moving companies were not open I was forced to sell all my large items as I had no where to put them. This cost me an enormous amount of stress and financial loss from the items. I plan on suing for damages . You have been warned - this company is a joke! DO NOT HIRE THEM! They quoted me a low rate and learn from my mistake that you get what you pay for.

   Do Not Deal With This Company.

   DO NOT USE RYDER MOVING STORAGE!! Long story short: Booked this company and paid few pence per lb premium ONLY because the sales man Alex alex(at)rydermovingstorage(dot)com guaranteed specific day of delivery! I asked numerous times and was reassured that would be the case! Well… guess what: day or delivery arrived and passed and Alex is no where to be found nor is my belongings. Called the company that does the work for Ryder and it turned out my staff is arriving 7 days later… The Manager of the second company even said he gets problems with irate customers of Ryder Moving Storage ALL THE TIME. To add insult to injury they have a truck delivering in my location today BUT for whatever reason my stuff is not on that truck as no one told them it needs to be delivered at that day!! SO now I need to buy clothes (school + work) for family of 4 plus bag packs, lunchboxes etc etc … Oh just in case the company decides to come up with some sort of I should have planned – I did! The delivery day is 6 days before I needed my clothes so NO excuses! And do not throw the T&Cs re “unexpected delays” at me as those were waved by your sales man Alex once over the phone and once by accepting my Work Order where I have clearly written the job is given ONLY if all belongings are delivered by the agreed date! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

   The move from hades.

   This would have been a great move had it not been screwed up by the salesman. I tried to organize a move for August 29th. Things started off well. We were able to negotiate the date, time and cost on August 18. On August 19 I followed up with the salesman to give additional information. On August 21, after three emails to correct the details which the salesman continued to claim were typos I got a confirmation. On August 29th - no truck. I called the salesman - it went to answer machine. I called the dispatcher and to my horror, there was no truck! The salesman left the order sitting on his desk. Nobody knew anything. The dispatcher - to give him great credit, found truck and men to complete the move. He called me every step of the way and followed up at home that evening. He called me the next day to ensure the billing was correct and asked how the move went. I mean, had the salesman been on top of things the way the dispatcher was it would have been a dream move. The moving truck, which was to arrive between 10 am and noon, got there at 8:30 pm. The 3 men had just completed a big move and were obviously tired. But they were polite, and quickly completed and finished the move by 11 pm. I would have given you a great rating, if the salesman and done his job. As the company would not have been aware of what we had already endured, the shock of finding there was NO truck because of the salesman error, probably took off another 10 years off my life! Thanks to the effort of the dispatcher and the willingness of the men who did the physical labour, the option would have been to try and complete this move today - which was really really bad as people were moving into the unit we were vacating. If I ever move again, I would seriously hesitate to use Ryder. If not for the dispatcher, I shudder at what might have happened this morning. As it is, moving in the middle of the night is not the greatest thing. A bar for a clothing rack was lost, making the item unuseable and will cost $50 to replace the unit. We're talking about university students on a shoestring budget. Shelling out $50 is half of their weekly salary - money that should be spent on books, data, food..

   Don't use this company.

   Horrible! I don't even know if I could give them a 1 star. We called them last week as our other company rescheduled. We told Alex the story and he assured us he'd have us moved on Friday. Then he called and moved it to Monday. Sunday came and we got a call to move it to Tuesday. It's the day before and no one has called to tell us a time and no one is answering phone. We are now moving ourselves. This move was a long distance move of 2 houses. They didn't do this to 1 household, but 2. Not sure how this company runs with this many bad reviews.

    Disastrous Moving Company.

    I've never written a review before on the internet, but like everyone else, I felt obliged to do so for the sake of anyone contemplating hiring this moving company, Ryder Moving! DON'T. Worse service ever with any moving company I have ever encountered. On the day they were supposed to pick up my items, 2 hours after they were supposed to arrive, I called them to find out that the truck was still over 10 hours away and would not be at my place till the next day. They never bothered to call me, I HAD to call to find out that they would never show on the agreed upon day. Then, they broke things, they FORGOT a piece of item, which a week later, I still don't have, and will only get apparently in 1 week..they are sure in NO RUSH to get to you your belongings THEY have forgotten. Also, they NEVER used any of the floor protection they so advertised, at NO PLACE (both pick up and delivery) did they use floor protection. They never re-assembled anything they disassembled either. Upon moving my belongings, they broke the thermostat off the wall which now will not work, great in the summer time I tell you, NO A/C, no air, NOT AWESOME AT ALL. They had also told me on the phone (with ALEX) initially that I would only be charged once my belongings safely arrived to my destination. NOT TRUE. the day after my belongings were picked up, I get a call from Green Moving Company, which I had never heard of, who is now telling me they do the accounting for RYDER, and need FULL payment BEFORE they delivered my belongings. JUST RIDICULOUS. I now understand why they want to be paid in full BEFORE they deliver, its because of their MEDIOCRE service. I'm so frustrated with this company right now, and still awaiting for my forgotten belonging to arrive. Oh and also, they used this real cheap tape over some of my belongings that won't come off now. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! Look elsewhere!!
