    Scam Scam Scam.

I booked my move through Jamie with United Moving Services in August of 2014 from West Virginia to Orlando Florida. From the date that I signed the contract, Nothing went as promised. The moving date came and I was notified that the movers would not arrive until the following day. I contacted Jamie and voiced my anger and the fact that I was scheduled to be in Orlando the following morning and that I could not wait. A couple hours later, a truck arrived. The contract clearly tells you DO NOT SIGN the inventory sheet if the driver has loaded the items on the truck before providing a full inventory. When I advised the driver and showed him this in the contract, the told me that all of my items were on his truck and his property until I signed and paid the balance which was nearly 2000 dollars more that the original quote. I spoke with Jamie once again and was advised that it would be taken care of. I ask the driver about additional insurance since nothing on the paperwork he had finally given me had any options of additional insurance. The driver advised me that I already had 10,000 insurance with my contract. My items were to be delivered on a date provided by the mover, that day came and a week later finally the truck arrived. The driver tells me that I have a balance of nearly 2000 dollars, again, I am being charged again double what I owed. I ended up calling the police at that time I spoke with the dispatcher and after several calls, I agreed to pay $1000 just so I could get my furniture and get settled. Finally I had my items, or so I thought. The driver and his helper began to carry items into my apartment that were not mine. I advised three times, these are not my items. I walk out to the truck just to find that the items were not mine at all. After arguing with the driver, he calls his dispatch and tells me that my items are further back in the truck than they should have been and that he would have to drive across town to unload another families items. He stated he would be back by 9pm. 10 pm came and still not truck. I called the driver and was advised that again my itmes were not in site. after midnight, the driver finally responded to my calls and said that he would return the following morning at 10 am. Yep 10 am came and no truck. The driver kept rejecting my phone calls to the point I called the police and the officer came back out and filed a stolen property report. The officer made several attempts to call the driver as well as the dispatch. When he spoke with Dispatch, they advised him that The truck had delivered my items the day before and that I only paid $500 of the $1000 balance. The officer advised that I had infact paid the full $1000 balance and that the driver left with my items in order to unload another families items. Dispatch said they would contact the driver. After about 45 minutes of filing the report with the police, the truck pulled up. United Moving Services Inc has done NOTHING to help with the claim for all of the missing and destroyed antique items. I had boxes clearly marked FRAGILE ANTIQUES DO NOT STACK. When I walked out to the truck, I took pictures of these clearly marked boxes which were on the floor of the truck with large boxes and furniture stacked on top of them. The boxes were crushed along with everything in them. I have fought with the moving company for over a year being promised payment and now find out that the company has been suspended for 90 by the Department of Transportation. Attempts to call United Moving Services have gone unanswered. I would advise anyone that is looking to move, DO NOT USE UNITED MOVING SERVICES NOR GALAXY MOVING SYSTEMS INC. THEY ARE BOTH SCAM ARTIST AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR ITEMS WILL BE LOST AND DESTROYED.

    Cross country move.

My son had his stuff moved and he has discovered that his pricy guitar was missing. I have tried to contact this company, but are able to leave only a message. Make sure when you book them..all the costs are up front to you. When they got to deliver the stuff (2 days late..pick up was also 1 day late), they tried to sock him with extra costs and kinda held his stuff "hostage" till they could work out a deal. The driver also told him that he had to quickly decide as he would be on the clock jacking the price up more if he did not make a quick decision. Not reliable. Would not recommend. the phone folks are very courteous when they are selling you the service..try to get ahold of them after the deal is done. Impossible to get a straight answer. I believe they were a moving broker as two different trucks came at pick up and delivery. Not reliable, not dependable. Salesman was Chris and John took over after that.

Run as fast as you can AWAY.

Talking to the agent he told me to save my money and not buy extra insurance that the trucker was covered. As I found out on the day of the move I could not purchase additional insurance had to be done with United Moving Service at least a week before pickup. This was NEVER relayed to me. The trucker's insurance is only $.60 per lb. What is that? Nothing! The mover they got for me lost my extra large box of all my purses, shoes and clothes. I am sick sick. How can a business operate like this. Never was able to talk to my agent again, he was always busy. This has been very depressing for me, all my clothing was in that box except the items I had in a small suitcase. I cry everyday, how could this happen. Plus I wasn't told they were a broker (United Moving Service), didn't find this out until the Unique Moving & Storage came and picked up my belongings in a Budget rental truck. Thought United Moving Service was the mover. I was quoted a price and it was raised $500 from original to actual move.

    United Lies For A Living.

United is an awful moving company, mostly because they don't move anything. They're a broker (which they go out of their way to hide from potential customers), so they sell your contract to one (or several) fly-by-night vendors, and then wash their hands of it. Chris, our salesperson, was very skilled at making promises that he knew he or his company absolutely could not keep, and in fact, our experience was that the exact opposite of everything he promised happened. Examples: • He said that the team that loaded my truck would be the same team that unloaded it at our destination. This was not the case. It wasn’t the same team, or even the same vehicle. We dealt with 3 different companies, and our stuff was moved around at least 3 times. • He said that our stuff would be kept in temperature controlled warehouses before and during transit. It wasn’t, and several boxes were wet, and poorly packed. • He said it would be there in 5-7 business days. This was reiterated by the other people at United. Try 20. • He said that there would be a maximum of two loads per truck. Our stuff arrived on a trailer with 6 other houses loaded in it, and some of our stuff was mixed in. • He said that since he had been in the business for over 15 years he could accurately take an estimate over the phone, and if anything, he overestimated. he couldn’t, and can’t. Our load was 400 cubes over, based on his very professional estimate, and cost me 1000 more than originally estimated. United is a scam company, using pressure sales tactics and outright lies to steal money from consumers. Don't make my mistake; do some research.

    The move that never happened.

Please beware of this company. They tell serious lies and are very unprofessional and make things up as they talk to you. My relocation move never happened with them and I lost $750 , $600 was for a deposit for my relocation move from Maryland to Florida and $150 for the auto transporters that I also used through United Movers. Read your contract carefully and check your articles list. I found that I was being charged twice for the same articles that were listed and still had to be boxed. I was sent movers (Unlimited Van Lines) through United Movers a day earlier on a Sunday and when they showed up with a wrong contract, they wanted to charge me more money because of the cubic ft. being incorrect. That was an instant red flag to me and my trust with them was gone. Why is it called a Binding Moving Estimate, when there is nothing binding about their estimated contracts. I had already had money orders prepared for the pickup and delivery amounts quoted by United Movers. I had no one to call regarding this problem on the United Movers end nor the Unlimited Van Lines end, who promised me, that if I have any problems with their movers, they would be available to assist me. That was not true, lies. The movers got angry with me and left stating “they wouldn’t move me for $10,000. I didn’t ask them to leave, they left on their own accord. I was left without a mover and United Movers would not reimburse me my money ($600). I had to call another mover (local), they were great. They moved me the next day without any lies or problems. They were originally my first choice. I should have stuck with them. I also ended up paying more money to the auto transporter, which I used through them also. Once again, Mike, the customer rep (with 10 yrs experience) which I used lied to me again. He told me, I could load my car with my belonging as long as I didn’t block the rear window view. Once the transporters saw my loaded car they charged me an extra $100.00 and told me the quoted price was incorrect from United Movers and charged me additional money, once again their lies. I would never, never use them again nor refer them to anyone. Run and never look back at this company. By the way, I am a senior on a fixed income. I wonder, if they would treat their mother this way, probably so.

Response from United Moving Services Inc.

The only part of this review that is correct is that the move never did happen. That is because the customer sent the truck away. They did not leave on their own accord like Barbara mentions. Barbara provided an inventory list which was almost accurate but was off very slightly by a few items. Those items based on a visual inspection of the property conducted by the movers looked like they would be about an additional 50-80 cubic feet but the movers advised her they would need to load everything in the vehicle to confirm those numbers so they gave her a worst case scenario revised estimate. She didn't like that worst case scenario and she sent them away. Regarding the auto transport, client was told on 2 occassions not to load things in the back seat and if she wanted to she could load things in the trunk. On the day of her pickup she called in asking if she could load things in the back seat. We told her for the 3rd time that she could not but she advised it was too late. Her signed paperwork also specifically states not to leave items anywhere where they'd be visible in the vehicle.

United Moving Services - Lies !

PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY !! I did not have a pleasant experience. They Lied to me.. I spoke w/ Ralph who seemed pleasant enough - I trusted this man and paid the price for it !! When My items were to be picked up they called me just before hand and demanded more money because they said that "Ralph" had no AUTHORITY to quote me any price over the phone !! after he repeatedly put me on HOLD to check to make sure the price QUOTED was okay.. they chaged me $200 dollars MORE money or I could go find someone else when I was already READY to move !! then when they picked my stuff up, come to find out - United Moving Services contracted out my items to be picked up by another Co. so the pick up date was pushed out twice ! then when I called to inquire about receiving my stuff on the 25th of August !! I was told that my stuff was brought to a storage facility in Georgia !! I was so upset I could hardly speak.. I did not receive my items till September 10th !! the Bins that I had most of my stuff packed in were broken, flattened, split. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF HEARTACHE/HEADACHES AND GO WITH A REPUTABLE COMPANY ! THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT IT.. IF I COULD GIVE THEM LESS THAN ONE STAR I WOULD.

    Horrible Moving Company.

Do not give your money or possessions to United Moving Services!   I recently used them for my relocation from Philaldelphia to Southern California.   Here are the details of the HORRENDOUS experience:1. United's sales representative, Mike, confirmed a pickup date and four-hour time window before I made the final booking; this was necessary as my Philadelphia building manager required appointments for the use of the loading dock, with very limited availability.   My booking with United was contingent upon the fact that the date and time would be available.  Mike affirmed that the pick-up could and would be executed during my scheduled move-out window with the building.  Two days prior to the move date, I found out that no truck had been confirmed, let alone a pick-up window.    Upon request to refund my deposit, the regional call center was finally able to reshuffle and accommodate me.  Meanwhile, I was subject to hours of frustration as I tried to work out alternatives with the building manager.2. The contracted carrier, US Moving run by Sal and hired by United, showed up on moving day and charged me $700 more than the estimated quoted price.   It is worth noting here that I never had an official QA call, as initially discussed.   Sal demanded 75% of the total cost at pickup, despite the fact that United had clarified previously that it would be 50% of the balance.  At that point, my items had already been loaded onto the truck and I had no choice but to pay him.  He then bullied me into tipping his staff who also happened to be his also his friends and relatives.3. Mover (named Sal) was extremely unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful throughout the entire process - he yelled at me on the phone multiple times when I called to check up on the status of the move.   Who YELLS at a customer?   To any reasonable person this conduct borders on abusive and is unacceptable.4. Once you give United your money, do not expect anyone you call at the company to return your phone calls when you leave messages.  They will not.5. Once the cross country truck was loaded, both I and United's customer service team, faced extreme difficulty tracking down the dispatcher/truck, leaving us in an uninformed position where we had no information as to where the truck was, let alone when to expect delivery of my belongings.  Moreover, the dispatcher never returned any attempts at communication.  At one point, I considered filing a police report as I feared that my load had been held hostage, which I understand from reading various moving industry related websites is a scam employed by non-reputable moving companies.6. It took over a MONTH for delivery of my items.  This is despite the fact that before booking my move with United, the sales representative confirmed and assured that the approximate delivery date would be no later than July 9th, 2015 (pick-up occurred on June 27th, 2015).  This confirmation was essential because of an important existing personal obligation which required that I fly out of California during the week of July 13th, 2015.  This therefore required that my delivery take place before then.  However, as it transpired, my belongings were sitting idly in a warehouse and not loaded onto the truck to cross the country until July 19th, 2015 after multiple rescheduling excuses and lies, only to arrive on August 4th, 2015. During this time, I have had to reschedule multiple trips (adding to excess costs) and missed a family member's wedding.   7. Upon delivery, inspection of our items showed significant damage to my desk, dining table and mattress, not to mention a handful of boxes (see photos).8. I have written a formal letter to United's Corporate offices regarding this experience, as suggested by their customer service center, and have not heard back. 9. If after reading all of this and you still wish to work with United, be sure to save down or print screen a copy of your original contract with them.   Once the order is picked up, the email link to the contract will no longer function.Otherwise, save your stuff, save your money, save yourselves and DO NOT trust this company with your belongings!    I would have given them zero or negative stars if possible.

False promises made by United Moving Services.

I strongly question the ethics of the company and would not recommend any of student friends or recent graduates to move your items with this company. In June, I booked an order to move my 1 BR items from Cambridge to San Francisco, CA. I was promised during the time of booking that my items will be moved to warehouse in CA for less than 7 days quick delivery since I didn't have my final address yet in SF. After a month, I confirmed my SF address to company and found out the my items are yet in MA warehouse and it will take 7-21 business days to deliver items. I was very disappointed to hear this. I wrote number of emails and made number of calls before the customer service department wrote an email to me. They failed to escalate my complain to their supervisor as well. Additionally, The dispatch department told me last week that they will have an update on delivery my items by this Tuesday. When I called them today, they failed to give an update on my delivery date. This came as consistent false promise to me and makes me totally disappointed with the service. I wouldn't recommend this company for student groups or any person moving in general.

    Small move!

United kept promising to make the move happen, but it never did. They had my $400.00 deposit for 1 week and then returned it which took an additional 5 days. Worst part is I left Virginia with the move all arranged and under contract and it never happened. I had to make new moving arrangements 1100 miles away. I would not not use this company! .

    Bait and Switch.

BAIT AND SWITCH!! Hired them to move my daughter.  Gave an inventory of items and they gave me a low quote.  When the movers came, they charged me almost twice what the quote was.  They said it was for a long carry, extra cubic feet, and packaging.  Once you give them your credit card for the deposit, you cannot speak to your salesperson again.  Story is longer but BEWARE!   When I asked them about the bad reviews on Yelp, before giving my deposit, they said it was their competition bad mouthing them.  I am not their competition.  Just an unhappy customer!  Dont let it happen to you!
