We hired this company for a state-to-state move. They were very professional and worked quickly without sacrificing care. The movers packed everything securely and unloaded it carefully. The pricing was affordable, making them a great choice for any relocation.

My crew on move day was fantastic! We had two pickup locations, one storage unit and a 4 bedroom house approximately 15 miles away. Our formen packed all the boxes, televisions, wrapped all the furniture in blankets and boxes up china from our cabinets. Our delivery took only 3 days from Brooklyn…

As a result of the praise, after doing some research, I settled on Royal Palm Executive Interstate Movers I had no complaints. Despite the scorching weather, the guys rode the elevator to the fourth floor again and over again for hours. They were quite helpful. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Loading in New York City

That block is a long-carry fee.

Walk-ups set the price. New York City prices stairs, not floor plans. A 1-bed on a fifth floor with no elevator can cost more than a 2-bed that has a reserved freight car. Tell the mover the floor, the elevator, and how far the truck can sit before anyone writes a number.

Buildings want the certificate first. Co-ops and many rentals ask for a certificate of insurance, elevator pads, and a time window. A building that wants that certificate 72 hours ahead will not let the crew on the service elevator if the email landed at 4pm the day before. Photograph the inventory and the truck doors before anyone rolls.

The curb is the permit. Alternate Side rules and street-closure permits decide if the truck sits at the stoop or a block away. That block is a long-carry fee. Brooklyn brownstones often need a smaller truck plus a shuttle from a wider avenue. Ask where the truck may stand before the crew prices the carry.

The road

Either way, delivery is the window written on the order for service.

One stretch of driving. The distance is 214 miles, about 5 hours at the wheel. A dedicated truck can spend that time on your goods alone. A shared truck folds the same miles into a route with other households. Either way, delivery is the window written on the order for service.

Tolls leave with you. Crossing a borough or leaving for another state adds tolls, and a possible waiting-time clock if the next building is late. The job is still priced by weight and miles. Stairs, a shuttle, and a long carry sit on top of that, and they belong in the quote you read with the estimate guide.

Authority before the deposit. Interstate work needs an active USDOT number and FMCSA authority. NYSDOT household-goods authority covers in-state work and does not replace the federal one. Check the mover on the license lookup and treat the deposit as a question for the deposit guide.

Delivering in Boston

Winter ice on a wood stair is a fee even when the quote is silent.

Boston prices the last street. Triple-deckers in Dorchester, Somerville, and Jamaica Plain have narrow turns, and a 40-foot truck cannot make the last street. Many streets are resident-only. A triple-decker with resident-only parking and no curb cut is a long carry before anyone opens the first box.

Paper the high-rise, plan the curb. Downtown and Seaport high-rises want a certificate of insurance and a freight reservation. Massachusetts regulates household-goods movers through the Department of Public Utilities, and interstate work still needs FMCSA. Ask for both numbers. Allston and Brighton in late August are student chaos: dumpsters, U-Hauls, and crews who booked out weeks earlier.

The fee the quote skips. Winter ice on a wood stair is a fee even when the quote is silent. Say so when you compare papers, along with any long carry the parking rules will force. On New York City to Boston, the reviewer-reported median is $2,734 across 7 priced reviews, and the middle half runs from $1,450 to $3,000.

Questions people ask

How long is the drive from New York City to Boston?
The driving distance is 214 miles, about 5 hours at the wheel. That count is time on the road, not time in the building. The date you can unpack is the window written on the order for service.
What do reviewers report paying on this lane?
On New York City to Boston, the reviewer-reported median is $2,734 across 7 priced reviews, and the middle half runs from $1,450 to $3,000. Access, not the floor plan, is what moves a job inside that range. A long-distance job on this lane is still priced by weight and miles.
What authority does the mover need?
The mover needs an active USDOT number and FMCSA authority. NYSDOT household-goods authority is for in-state New York work, and Massachusetts regulates household-goods movers through the Department of Public Utilities. Ask for the federal number and the state number before you book.
How many people moved from New York to Massachusetts in 2024?
The Census ACS count is 18,697, with a margin of plus or minus 3,077. That is people, not shipments. It will not get a truck any closer to a Boston stoop.
How does the cost of living compare?
BEA price parity for 2024 sets the US at 100, with New York at 107.9 and Massachusetts at 105.8. The index measures living costs, not a moving bill. Weight, miles, stairs, and the curb still decide what you pay the mover.
