Check off boxes as unloaded
You need to check boxes off by serial number as they come off the van. Unloading will take much longer but this is the only way to know if everything has been delivered. Your movers will not like this. You will be asked to sign that all has been delivered and this is the only way to know. Our movers Dan and Bev Kasper packed dressers without our knowledge. We didn't know about these boxes. These boxes are lost. Family photos gone. They also removed all shelving from bookcases and other furniture. They delivered other customers shelves. The shelves have serial number tags the movers put on. They are not interested in getting these items to their owners. The numbered tags ID the customer but movers do not care. Two furniture pieces ruined for others. The cost would have been half if I had paid someone to load pods and transport across country. Plus I would have everything. The moving business needs to be legally cleaned up. When happened to us is not right. I compare it to a house hold fire. So much lost/gone.

WARNING! I wanted to provide awareness of what you can expect booking a move through this company. I booked my move over a month in advance. Scheduled for a load date on July 6th with a delivery window from July 10th – to July 15th. Foreshadowing the disaster to come surfaced when they called a couple of days before the load date to say they can’t load on the 6th but will be able to load on the 7th. They assured me multiple times that the delivery window would not be impacted. They require you to be at your destination for the entirety of your delivery window to accept delivery when they arrive. We planned accordingly and booked a couple of hotel rooms at our destination city for the delivery window. We were notified on Tuesday, July 13th that our shipment would arrive at the local hub on Saturday 17th. By Thursday, July 15th the arrival to the hub then moved to Monday the 19th with actual delivery to our new home on Saturday, July 24th, nine days after the end of our delivery window that we were assured would not be compromised. As the delays continued to roll in I figured at a minimum they would be willing to cover our two hotel rooms at $350 a day until our things arrive since they required us to be there by July 10th, however, they would only provide paltry $125. In addition to our hotel costs, I’m forced to buy new clothes for my first week of work as they have all my nice clothes and shoes. My wife is a mental health counselor that sees patients with depression, anxiety, etc. from a home office and is bound by HIPAA regulations that preclude her from working from a hotel room due to privacy. Due to these regulations, she is having to reschedule 6 days’ worth of patients which is lost revenue for her, but the more concerning factor is the disruption of care for patients. This company has no empathy and refuses to do the humane thing after forcing people to arrive for their delivery window stranding people to fend for themselves living out of a hotel until they decide to show up with your belongings. I’ve lost all confidence in this company. Fingers crossed everything shows up on July 24th and intact. If you book with this company plan on spending an additional several thousand dollars on the back end while you wait for your things to arrive. I will update the review after the conclusion of the move to share the unsettling surprises that are yet to come.

Buyer Beware - No Guaranteed Arrival
We had a delivery window of 1 week and after the last day of the window came and passed, we found out the local company they contracted with didn't have ability for another 3 weeks. Mayflower does not move your items yourself. It is completely dependent on the schedule of a local provider schedule. They also only use 1-2 providers in a state so no way to get a faster delivery or new options. We were left without our stuff with no way of getting it...and honestly since its a big company, they don't really care as you have to pay upfront. If you get a quote that is similar in price...please use them. It's a massive risk with Mayflower.

Delivery of house hold goods were delayed by 1 week, without notice
I moved from boston to st.louis. When the team came to pack they didn’t cover my rugs stepped all over them and one is ruined. The delivery was delayed by 1 week and I wasn’t informed about the delay until the day of delivery when I called to confirm the time, which didn’t allow for me to plan for other options. Also the delay claim of $100 per day is quite insignificant in comparison to the total cost of the move and the cost for me to pay someone to unpack as I can’t do it myself now. Additionally I experienced the same issue with my car, it was delayed one week, the company didn’t bother to notify me, I called them on the delivery date expecting to receive a delivery time then I was told that it would be delayed without an expected delivery date, I had to keep calling to get a delivery date. Which also doubled my expense for a rental car, again without notice therefore I couldn’t make a plan for other options. This entire experience has been stressful and disappointing. I have several broken items and the boxes weren’t actually labeled with the correct contents.

I survived COVID but NOT my move.
Moved from Mayflower Nashville 8/27/19; stored goods at Mayflower Hackensack NJ. One ENTIRE container/4 of 75K of my goods (new tv, all clothes, wedding album) was NOT delivered on 7/9/20 to NYC condo. No itemized list at delivery. Even had one box mis-delivered to me from another family. NJ will not even take my calls. I have NO confidence that anyone is even searching. Will never use again.

Vehicle Damage.
First of all, they didn’t wear masks or gloves during a PANDEMIC. Second, the bumper came off of my car during the transport and they denied the claim. Shook my husband’s hand! Not supposed to do that during a PANDEMIC. Will never use them again.

Damage.
I moved from Illinois to Arizona 8/2019. My furniture was to be loaded on site from my residence into storage vaults, it was not. I am told that when the items arrive at the storage warehouse the crew needs their blankets back and they unwrap your furniture. The furniture once pulled for delivery sits unprotected on the warehouse floor for the cross country driver who delivers your goods to re wrap. I ended up with split deliveries that were delayed one and two weeks. All but 4 pieces of furniture were scratched, dented, warped or plain dirty. My front porch Stucco was damaged by careless delivery people. So now it has been 7 months since filing my claim. I am on my second repair firm. The first, Customer Claims, brought things back worse than they left with swirls, mismatched colors, smeared finishes, etc. I have been waiting 8 weeks now for a supervisor to authorize the second repair company to attempt repairs. I keep being reassigned to new adjusters, no one knows who has my case, nothing gets resolved. I was told that the first repair company acknowledged the mess they made and withdrew charges. Nice for UniGroup insurance, but I am left with damaged furniture with no end in sight. They want to offer me appearance adjustments, but many things are only a few years old and everything was well cared for. I packed my own heavy duty, new boxes, one had broken items. My boxes were used as a workbench to elevate my sectional on when it was wrapped. I did pay extra for full value protection with coverage for sets and pairs. My advice, don’t bother moving things you loved.

Over-promise, Under-deliver Literally.
We moved from Indianapolis to Boston using Mayflower. The local Mayflower representative who we spoke with to obtain a quote guaranteed that the movers would take great care with our furniture, pack it into the truck, drive cross-country, unload, and re-assemble our furniture. We checked several reviews online, and decided to go with Mayflower. 1 - The movers were 1 hour late to pack up the truck in Indianapolis. No big deal. 2 - They did not use any care. Several items ended up being broken, scratched, dented, and otherwise damaged. They refuse to work with us to compensate for the damages. 3 - When they were unloading our items in Boston, they absolutely refused to re-assemble any of our furniture. I was told by both Mayflower's corporate office, and their local office representatives, and our Mayflower booking agent, that re-assembly is standard. Yet, they refused to re-assemble any of our furniture, and their response was: "Sorry. That's unusual that the movers wouldn't re-assemble anything for you, but we can't make anyone do anything." Basically telling me that we were screwed. For the amount of money they charged, and level of service they claim, it has been an absolutely disgusting experience working with them. They should be ashamed of themselves. Don't make the same mistake as me - book with a credible, reliable, moving company. Mayflower is horrible.

Mayflower/unigroup do Not Use!
Interstate move AL to WA with contract in which Mayflower's own contract promised: "Full Value Replacement Coverage" which states; "Full (Replacement) Value Protection is the most comprehensive plan available for protection of your goods. If any article is lost, destroyed, or damaged while in your mover’s custody, your mover will, at its option, either 1) repair the article to the extent necessary to restore it to the same condition as when it was received by your mover, or pay you for the cost of such repairs; or 2) replace the article with an article of like kind and quality, or pay you for the cost of such replacement." Mayflower contracted to pack/crate certain high value items including a Portoro Super marble tabletop. Mayflower failed to crate any items before moving them. Marble tabletop arrived broken. I made a claim to Mayflower and its parent Unigroup for the broken marble table top. 3 months - no response. I obtained and sent to Mayflower/Unigroup a binding quote from a marble company to (1) replace the marble tabletop with the exact same marble, (2) fabrication to the exact same size (so it would fit the original table base, and (3) shipping to me. Thereafter, Mayflower/Unigroup finally responded stating that they were obtaining other replacement quotes. A month later, Mayflower/Unigroup offered to pay me ONLY 10% of the binding quote for the full value replacement cost I had provided to them. The Mayflower/Unigroup offer was purportedly based upon an appraisal from their appraiser. Mayflower never got any quotes to actually replace the tabletop as promised. Mayflower breached its promise to crate items before moving them and then breached its promise to provide Full Value Replacement. Mayflower did not promise and I did not agree to accept only "appraisal value coverage" or "actual cash value" coverage. Mayflower promises Full Value Replacement coverage for lost/broken items and then tries to cheat its customers by paying less than the replacement cost. DO NOT TRUST MAYFLOWER, DO NOT MOVE WITH MAYFLOWER OR ANY OTHER MOVERS OWNED BY UNIGROUP [Mayflower's parent company that is involved in claims adjustment] - YOU CAN FIND A LIST ON THE INTERNET of all Unigroup owned movers.
