   Paid for Full Service, Finished the Move Ourselves

   We chose Safebound Moving & Storage because of their positive reviews and their support of veterans, which was meaningful to us as my husband is a veteran and below the knee amputee. Initially, our experience was very positive. Derek was kind, professional, and helpful throughout the quoting process. We first planned for them to move only large furniture, but after complications with the sale of our home, we had to switch to a full packing and moving service. Derek worked with us through multiple walkthroughs and helped update the estimate quickly. Unfortunately, the actual move itself was incredibly stressful and poorly executed. When scheduling, dispatch asked what time we wanted the crew there, and I requested 6:30 AM because we were closing on our home that same morning and needed to be fully out before the buyers moved in later that day. I also explained that we needed everything completed by around 5 PM so we could begin unpacking and organizing at the new property. The day before the move, we were told the crew would arrive at 9 AM instead. I explained again that timing was critical, and they said they would check with the foreman. The morning of the move, the crew had still not arrived by the time we had to leave for closing documents at 9:15 AM. At 10:15 AM I received a call saying they were “10 minutes away,” which is when I was informed there was apparently a 9–11 AM arrival window that had never been communicated to me. Since we had no choice, I told them to let themselves in and start packing. By 11:30 AM, they were nowhere near halfway done. I explained that cleaners were arriving and buyers were taking possession that afternoon. I was told they needed another 1.5–2 hours, which already felt tight but manageable. At 1:30 PM, my cleaners called because the house was still far from packed. At that point, myself, a friend, and even my cleaners were helping pack and load our personal vehicles because we had to get out of the house. Around 3 PM, my husband discovered the movers had completely run out of room in the truck while there were still many items left behind. To add context, this was a 2,100 sq ft 4 bedroom home, but two bedrooms and one bathroom were already fully packed before the movers even arrived. We hired a full pack and move specifically because I am still recovering from multiple broken ribs and cannot safely lift heavy items, and because my husband had knee surgery scheduled two days later. When the movers arrived at the new property, they refused to unload until payment was made, despite the fact that they had not completed the move and many items were still left at the old house and garage. After speaking with the office, they eventually agreed to unload, collect payment midway through, then return to finish the job at no extra cost. To be fair, the second conversation I had with the office was much more helpful and professional than the first, and the crew did eventually return to finish loading the remaining items. However, the overall experience was still extremely disappointing. The buyers had already moved into our old home while we were still scrambling to finish moving out. The movers left gloves, trash, and debris scattered throughout the house and yard. Boxes were largely unlabeled. By the end of the night, most items were simply dumped into our garage because everyone was exhausted and trying to finish. The crew finally left around 9 PM. Even now, the buyers are still contacting us about items the movers missed throughout the house, and we now have to hire additional help to move furniture and boxes from the garage into the home because we physically cannot do it ourselves. I genuinely wanted this experience to go well because the company seemed caring and professional during the planning process. Unfortunately, the execution on moving day created one of the most stressful experiences we’ve ever had during an already difficult transition.

   Estimate was worthless

   A Safebound salesman actually came to my home in Florida and looked at everything that I needed to move to North Carolina. Patric gave me a price, I negotiated a bit with William on the phone and then sent them a 33% deposit. When the moving crew arrived, the manager informed me that I needed to purchase additional truck space for an extra cost of $6600. I told them to take all heavy items and anything else that would fit. The following day I rented a 20 foot U-Haul truck with a tow hitch so that I could take the vehicle that I planned on driving. They underestimated so much that I filled a 20 foot truck! Mistake? I think NOT! I hired some laborers to help load the truck and then hired laborers to help unload when I got to North Carolina. This resulted in an additional expense of about $2500. I received a phone call from them after posting a review on a different site. I was offered an insulting $200 which eventually was raised to $400. I was accused of extortion when I declined. The bottom line is “do your homework”. Pay me now or pay me later.

   Quoted $3,585 but final bill was $5,488 after poor planning and sending a truck too small for the job. Move was forced into a second day with long delays and no communication when the crew left with my belongings. Payment was forced via Zelle only. Filed BBB complaint. Would not recommend.”

   Scrammers and Worst Movers Ever!

   Safebound moving has not delivered my items, insisted that I sign a contract stating they are not liable for my items and nothing negative can be said about the company through reviews, complaints or otherwise. I have reached out to the company for my belongings and no response. Zac Reid is nasty and stating he is going to upcharge me and charges me for other fees and storage when my items have not been delivered.

   Stay away from this company

   It took 4 weeks to deliver which is allowed in the fine print but not the expectation created when signing the contract. No updates given. Most belongings were trashed on arrival, and the company then tells you about the other fine print that says the insurance that we told you was included only pays you $0.60 per pound and most furniture materials are not covered at all. Individuals at the company during the sales process are great but not so much when you have a claim. Be warned.

   Formal Complaint: Billing Discrepancy and Regulatory Noncompliance

   My experience matches many of the negative reviews here — overcharges, subcontracting without disclosure, poor communication, and no resolution after more than a month. I would not recommend this company at all. I was quoted $2,900 for an interstate two-bedroom move. Before pickup, I called to say I had removed a second bedroom, office, and kitchen contents. That information never reached the pickup team (a third-party carrier). Despite the reduced inventory, I was charged an extra $750 for “increased cubic feet” from added boxes — with no updated calculation or explanation. The problems didn’t stop there: Only 20 minutes’ notice before delivery instead of 24 hours My move was subcontracted twice without my knowledge Delivery crew failed to reassemble my bed frame No promised follow-up call after delivery Driver claimed he couldn’t call because his phone was broken I first contacted customer service on July 3 and followed up six more times. On July 11, their rep acknowledged mistakes and promised compensation, then went on leave without handing off my case. I’ve requested arbitration details (July 29, Aug 5, Aug 12) but Safebound has refused to provide them, even though they are required to. Based on my experience, I would avoid this company.

   Don't use this company!

   I contracted with this company for my long distance move from California to New Hampshire on June 14th. The movers arrived on time. My box count was exact. However, to my horror the mover told me it would cost an additional 2k! I am completely at a loss. How could that be???? The weak explanation I got from your team was, "Sometimes it goes over". Seriously?! I am a senior living on Social Security Disability. I had to borrow money from a friend. I have no idea how I can ever pay that friend back. Fast forward 2 weeks. No word from this Company. Chris assured me it never takes more than 2 weeks to deliver. I had to call 3 times before someone told me all my belongings are sitting in a warehouse in Nevada waiting and waiting for a truck that is going my way!! I am in to this for over 5.5k now and I am FURIOUS! I paid 2k more than I should have and now this? This is completely UNACCEPTABLE! No one can give me an ETA. This is by far the worst service I've ever gotten. I don't see how they could possibly have so many positive reviews.

   Avoid at all costs. Zero integrity.

   If you're looking for the company with the least integrity in the space, you've found it. Thousands of dollars worth of items in "air-conditioned" long-term storage were delivered with extensive mold and mildew. They then had the audacity to try and blame it on us. Told them I was simply looking for the cost of replacement for the items, went through their claims process, and had to chase them down for months to get a response. Ultimately came back with an offer of 40% of the value. I let them know I would not accept it and they said the offers off the table, nothing else you can do then. The ironic part about all of this is that if you're put on hold with them (which you will be), their hold music talks all about how they "treat your belongings as if they were their own," how "integrity is a key value held by the company," and that "your belongings are stored securely in our air-conditioned warehouses." This company and its leadership is a joke. DO NOT USE THEM, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

   Where to begin

   Quoted 6900 and charged $12k with no choice but to accept on moving day. They don’t answer the phone, respond to emails or hold themselves accountable. They block people that leave honest reviews and they have a history of treating dissatisfied customers this way. Their BBB and Consumer Affairs ratings speak for themselves. Unprofessional scam artists.

    Stolen equipment

    I wish I had read the reviews first, if so, I would never have hired this company. No one but myself and Safe bound has been in my garage. Today I went to pull my sons scuba diving fins and masks, approx. value of about 2400. and found them missing. i was baffled at first and looked and relooked, they were gone. Something i was getting my teenage boys involved with as i am separated from the mom and long for any connection we can make. I bought pizza, tipped them $300. , then I find my equipment gone, they are the only other people, other then myself, that was in the garage. Looking back i realize they , there were three, kept me busy upstairs while they looked for stuff to hide in the truck. They are real creeps.
