Difficult to No Communication and Beware of Fees

I would probably not use this service again if it were not for the dispatcher Sean in Miami who moved heaven and earth to help us get out of a pick-up scheduling loop. We had to reschedule our drop-off due to no fault of our own -- truck literally drove away on drop off date. I could reach no one and ultimately, at EOD after no one picking up the phone all day, someone took pity on me and emailed dispatch, only to be charged $150 for the change. I felt hijacked, but what could I do? When I called to have the fee removed, we were denied. I felt that it was a poor customer service solution.

Cheap but not sure it was worth it

The service was cheap and they were on schedule doing everything off. But I would say 7 out of my 10 boxes were completely destroyed on arrival. Every piece of furniture I had inside was damaged in some way. The walls of the truck were absolutely covered in a black grease so everything that was up against the walls is now stained black. If you don't own anything expensive and want a cheap option it may be worth it but they are very rough on your belongings.

Generally U Pack is a good option for your move. We used a 26 ft truck and used 15 ft (we estimated 14). The only disappointment was that the truck that was dropped off had no "pins" used to lock down the horizontal bars that keep the internal wall secure. That allowed the contents to move and that resulted in some furniture damage. We learned from ABF employees that almost no truck has pins - even though the written instructions describe that they are to be used. You need to insist that the driver who drops your truck provides these and shows you where they are. I gave an Unsatisfactory rating because they should do what they say they do. You will find similar comments on the internet about horizontal bar failures. My guess is that they will be mostly related to this missing pin.

    Response from U Pack

Thank you for your feedback, Phil. I'll be sure and pass along to the local office. We appreciate you using our service and wish you the very best. -Nicki K.

A driver threw their trash out their window

I've never used this company, but I was behind one of their drivers who threw their trash out of the window before going up to a light. Why couldn't they keep their trash until the next stop?! I have a picture of their license plate(972-4LE) and truck number(400429) I thought that was the most disgusting and disrespectful thing, and for them to be in a company truck is crazy.

    Bad communication

They are the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Always changing the day of delivery. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.they don’t assist you or inform you of changes. No email or phone. They try to blame that a miscommunication.

Beware Don't put trust in them

I had a cube reserved for weeks. The cube was being delivered on Tuesday giving me more that enough time to be out of my apartment for the Thursday I had to leave. Not even 24 hours before my delivery on Monday they said the forklift was broken and they could come on Thursday! Just like that, too bad on me. No trying to work a resolution for me. Just you are out of luck, you can cancel your reservation. So how would they know it would be up and running on Thursday. Do not Trust them, go to another company. Horrible. I'm sure they would have charged me if I canceled less than 24 hours. They should have paid me. They do not give a dam. They could not have cared less.

    Response from U Pack

Al, I am so sorry we had equipment issues and weren't able to execute your move as it had been booked. The flatbed and forklift are specialized and take a day or two to be repaired after we get parts. Regardless, I understand your frustration and having to change plans last-minute. We do offer the option to load at the local office at a reduced price but if that wasn't offered or an option you could consider, I am truly sorry. Sincerely, Audrey J.

Consistently late for committed delivery times for empty trailer in Houston, customer service no help either - just shocking service . Not worth the frustration or added expense for the separate packing crew

    Response from U Pack

Dane, I am so sorry you have had issues with the timing of your move. We can definitely assist with that if you'd please email your reference number and any details to customercare@upack,com. We'd like to look into what happened for you. Thank you, Audrey J.

    Inadequate information and high cost

I am a returning customer (first service in 2020 and second in 2025). The first is that they did not tell me about the 5-foot policy at the time of reservation. The second is that they charged me 59% more than in 2020 for the same route and same distance, which was just nonsense! I contacted customer support many times, but they did not help; rather, they were defending their side.

    Response from U Pack

Dear Sushil, Thank you for moving with us again. I'm sorry that our rates have gone up since last you moved with us. I hope the remainder of the experience was a good one. Best wishes to you in your new home. Sincerely, Brittany G.

I never leave reviews, but this was so frustrating!

They accidentally sent my truck all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah back to Georgia instead to Nevada where it was supposed to go. So all my belongings crossed the country three times instead of once. No one updated me with any information, and when I called, they would transfer me between people over and over. It took me hours to find out what had happened and no one seemed very concerned or sorry. The drivers I met were professional and helpful, but the organization was awful, my stuff was lost, had more damage and wear and tear from crossing the entire country two extra times, and there was no communication or effort to make it right. I will never use U Pack again unfortunately.

    Response from U Pack

Dear Clarissa, I'm very sorry to hear there were routing issues with your shipment. If you would like us to look into it further, please email your reference number and details to customercare@upack.com. Thanks, Brittany G.
