Loading in Miami
Miss it and the crew waits in the humidity.
Certificates and a named window. Miami-Dade condos run on a certificate of insurance, pads, and a window the building already named. Miss it and the crew waits in the humidity. High-rises in Brickell, Sunny Isles, and Sunny Grove want weekday slots, so reserve that window before you lock a load date. The Miami move pages cover what the building will ask for at the door.
Street loading and a short clock. Street loading in Little Havana or Coconut Grove is a long carry when the truck cannot sit. A Brickell building that only gives you 8am to 10am will not care that I-95 was already a parking lot. Hurricane season slips calendars on top of that tight window.
Name the truck before the cash. Florida consumer pages from FDACS are worth a read before a large deposit. Ask for the USDOT. Do not pay cash on a truck you cannot name. The deposit guide is the short version of that warning when a quote wants money before it wants a name.
The road
That is not a same-day shuttle.
Several days at the wheel. The drive is 2,733 miles, about 48 hours at the wheel. That is not a same-day shuttle. A dedicated truck still spends more than one driving day on a haul this long, and the delivery spread is the window written on the order for service. Do not treat the pickup morning as the delivery morning.
Dedicated truck or a shared load. On a drive of this length the booking is either a dedicated truck or a shared load. Both are priced by weight and miles, and both are delivered inside the window written on the order for service. See long-distance service for how that booking is supposed to read before you compare two dates that are not the same day.
Authority before anyone loads. This is an interstate household-goods job, so the mover needs an active USDOT number and FMCSA authority. Write the number down and run it through the licence check before the truck is loaded. If the number is missing, do not pay a large deposit.
Delivering in Los Angeles
You pay for both clocks.
Two different deliveries. Los Angeles is a collection of loading problems connected by I-10 and the 405. A 2-bed in a valley apartment with a loading dock is a different job from a hillside house in Silver Lake or Mount Washington, where the truck stops two bends below and the crew carries. Newer buildings' HOAs want a COI and a weekday window, so have both ready.
Parking and the shuttle. Street parking in many neighborhoods is the accessorial. A truck that cannot climb or turn on a Silver Lake street gets swapped for a shuttle. You pay for both clocks. Friday of a holiday weekend is a long day in traffic, so ask the building what the truck is allowed to do before the crew is on the hill.
Damage is the louder mention. Of 161 reviews on this state pair, 30% mention damage and 15% a delay. California household movers are licensed under the Household Movers Act (BHGS), and interstate work still needs FMCSA. Ask for the Cal-T or BHGS number and the USDOT. Do not hand over a large cash deposit to a crew that only has a van and a verbal number.

When to go: in Florida, the busiest month for home sales over the last year was Mar 2026 and the quietest was Jan 2026. Movers fill up on the same calendar; a mid-month weekday outside May to August is the cheaper slot. Check your date.

Ask out loud
Questions people ask
- How long does the truck take from Miami to Los Angeles?
- The driving distance is 2,733 miles, about 48 hours at the wheel, so plan on several days rather than a same-day delivery. A dedicated truck and a shared load both finish inside the window written on the order for service. The pickup date and that delivery window are different lines, and both should be on the order before you pay.
- How is this move priced?
- An interstate household-goods job is priced by weight and miles. Delivery sits inside the window written on the order for service, for a dedicated truck and for a shared load. Read the weight, the miles, and that window on the quote before you send a deposit.
- What licence numbers should I ask for?
- The mover needs an active USDOT number and FMCSA authority for an interstate household-goods job. California household movers are licensed under the Household Movers Act, so ask for the Cal-T or BHGS number as well as the USDOT. Florida consumer pages from FDACS are worth a read before a large deposit.
- What does a Miami condo want on load day?
- Miami-Dade condos run on a certificate of insurance, pads, and a named window. High-rises in Brickell, Sunny Isles, and Sunny Grove want weekday slots. Miss the window and the crew waits in the humidity, and a short slot such as 8am to 10am will not stretch because the drive in ran long.
- What should I expect at a Los Angeles hillside house?
- A hillside house in Silver Lake or Mount Washington can leave the truck two bends below the door, with the crew carrying from there. If the truck cannot climb or turn, it is swapped for a shuttle, and you pay for both clocks. Street parking in many neighborhoods is the accessorial, so settle that with the building before delivery day.
