   Move from Idaho to Tennessee

   I contracted with New Horizon Moving for my move from Idaho to Tennessee. I gave them an estimate of my belongings and was given a guesstimate of 1021 cf. for $6895.84. A few days before the pickup they called and I gave them a better estimate (after several days of packing) this time they guesstimated at 1538 cf. for $13016.52. I really don’t understand how 1.5X the original cf. equates to more than double the original price. I was also told that I would be able to pay for both the pickup and delivery with a credit card - Not True! The contract clearly states: “This estimate includes the following: Professional Door to Doir service. Expert advice and guidance throughout the course of your move. Disassembly of all standard furniture as required for safe movement st the origin. (Excluding certain specialty items). Reassembly for all items disassembled by the movers on the day of pick-up at destination location. Wrapping of all furniture with quilted moving blankets. Itemized inventory indicating condition at origin of items. All transportation, taxes, tolls, mileage, and fuel surcharges Standard cargo protection up to $10,000 based on 0.60 cents per lb. Per article; if selected at the time the estimate is prepared, estimated cost of the full value protection option at varying deductible levels (these are only estimates and the actual cost is determined by your selection on the carrier’s bill if landing per carrier’s tariff). No charge for packing tape and/or moving pads. I realize that New Horizon is not the carrier, but they did indeed contract with carrier - All Season Van Lines LLC (also DBA Bro Lines Express Inc). This carrier did NONE of the things listed above! I’m a senior citizen, as are my two sisters and the male friend I had helping me. We moved everything out to the truck, with the exception of a TV, the couch, and the washer and dryer (which they had no tools to unhook) My helpers disassembled my beds. They had NO moving blankets and only wrapped my couch with Saran Wrap type stuff. Which in itself was fine but they wouldn’t wrap the cushions on the couch “we can stuff them in and fill holes”. That was also their attitude for any and all dresser/cabinet drawers. And don’t even get me started on their behavior or the fact that they were 36 hours late for the pick-up!! And it took 3 weeks to attempt delivery (I got word of the delivery the night before) but I was not told what the final delivery charge would be until it was too late to get a wire transfer completed so they charged me a re-delivery fee and then didn’t deliver for another week. And ALL of my furniture looks as though it has been slid around dirty warehouse floors, horribly scratched, knobs broken and missing, and a missing wing back chair (I have the cushion, but no chair). Remarkably only a few dishes were broken. I would recommend that if you were to choose New Horizon, that you find out who the carrier would be and then research them well. This has truly been the most distressing, upsetting and over priced experience of my entire life!

   Not the greatest experience

   I received a quote from this company and decided to hire them. I paid the deposit and signed the paperwork. I was given a date and time for my QA appointment. A couple weeks before the appointment I emailed the representative to inform them that I had quite a bit more to add to my inventory. I never received a response. I should have called at that point, but I sent an email because I was very busy. This was a very last minute move and my stress level was high. The time came for our QA appointment and the representative called an hour late. I had to be at work and my husband did not completely know what was going on. The representative said he would call us back in the evening, he never did. I called the following morning after waiting to receive a call but received nothing. I spoke with a woman and told her I was very concerned about my move not happening. I explained to her that my QA appointment did not happen and I have a lot more inventory. I asked her how I would know how much my move would cost. She said not to worry, the movers will give me a final price when they get there. Now I paid about $950 for the down payment and had a balance of about $2400. I knew I would have to pay half at pick up and the other half at drop off. I did add inventory so I expected to pay more, I figured it may go up about $1000 so I would need to pay $1200 at pick up and drop off. The movers came on the very last window day-the day we had to leave. The movers were very nice, but the final price they gave me made my heart drop. My final balance by the time they were done increased from $2400 to $5200. It more than doubled. And there was nothing I could do because it was Sunday afternoon, and we needed to get on the road. When New Horizon called me on Monday to see how the move went I explained to them my dissatisfaction with the final price. They told me to send them the paperwork with the increased price. I sent it and heard nothing from them until I called on Friday. The representative I spoke to this time told me he would put in a request for some kind of refund. I have heard nothing from them. I will never use this company again. I will not recommend them to anyone.

   THIEVES! SCAM!

   I hired this company in June 2022 to move from IN to VA. Paid over $4000, then the day the truck was loaded, the guy tells me I owe him $5000. I said I already paid. He said you paid the broker but you have to pay us, too. It was either pay them or unload the truck and unravel all my plans for starting a new job, so I had no choice but to run to the bank for a cashier’s check. Told the driver I would give him the check when he showed up in VA with my belongings. Thankfully he showed up on time and with everything in tact, and when he was done unloading I gave him the cashier’s check. Expensive lesson learned! Always use a local moving company!

   Between New Horizon and sub-contract company Seven Star. Are the worst companies to deal with. Missing and damaged items. Stole our contact papers that were on counter so we could not file a claim. If you value your property DON’T USE!!!!

   Absolutely terrible, rude, scammers

   This is an awful scam of a "moving company". It is a moving broker who will hire the worst, cheapest mover they can find, take your money, then leave you out to dry. They will underquote you to draw in, then they will charge you whatever they feel like. I was quoted 4k and was forced to pay over 10k once my items were on the truck. As soon as they place you with one of their terrible movers, they will cut off contact with you and not help. What did I even pay them for? They did not move my things, connect me with a good mover, help me with insurance after my things were lost/broken, or even treat me with respect. I cannot overstate how horrible this company is. I am surprised that this predatory company is not operating illegally.

   Complete Scam

   This company is a complete scam!!! They are a broker company but they will hide that from you. You will never be able to get ahold of the person who signed the contract with you and when you reply to the email, Gmail will tell you that email doesn't exist. They will give you a low estimate to bait you in but the moving company charge you a ridiculous amount of extra money when they show up on the day of the move. When you try to get ahold of someone for any sort of issues, they will brush you off and tell you there's nothing they can do. This company is a joke and I hope everyone who works there get karma for scamming people. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!

   Move in June

   Regrettably, during my move in June, one of my items was lost. For the next four months I tried to get compensation, but heard nothing from the company. When I called them in September, they said that unfortunately a third-party company was to provide compensation and that New Horizon were no longer liable for losses or damages. I would urge anyone reading this review to find a different moving company, as my $200 item will not be compensated.

   Please do not use this moving company

   I had been in communication with customer service several times to confirm pick up TIME and PRICE - was told movers would show between 3-6pm, was told to please be at my apt the entire time, movers didn't show until 7:30pm. Initial estimate on moving day from customer service was $800; movers show up tell me $2000 at pick up and drop off. My list of items - mattress, boxspring, dresser, couch, coffee table, bar stools, 2 rugs. In total I ended up paying 3x the amount I was told. Movers only took cash - I didn't have the money & had no way to get the money. Ended up writing a personal check, my items couldn't be delivered until the check was deposited, was told my belongings would be delivered within 1-7 business days. On the 7th day, movers said they would arrive at 2:00, changed to 10:00 because of "traffic", didn't show until 10:45. They delivered all of my items + an extra boxspring. So now I have a boxspring I don't need and someone didn't get theirs. They also folded my mattress in half.

    Not a moving company !! A BROKER - Dont be fooled

    Do not trust this sham of that claims to be a "moving company" they are only a "broker" they never send New Horizon moving trucks or employees. They take your deposit, send an outside company which then upcharges you thousands of dollars for your move. I had to sadly learn the hard way and the purpose of this post is to help anyone else who is possibly deciding to use them. Do your research and dont let the numbers fool you. Hire a Full Service company if you can or rent a van and hire helpers to do the heavy lifting.
