   Recent Move

   I recently moved from Kentucky to South Carolina with a company selected by New Leaf. The preparation for the move was well handled with frequent communication and instructions. things have changed quite a bit in the industry since we last moved so it was a learning process for me. Almost all the "movers" are actually brokers who select movers in their portfolio. Not an issue unless as a broker they do not stand behind the move. Not surprisingly, there were issues that occurred during the move itself, but that is not the subject of this review. Suffice it to say when my claim for damage was denied by the company who actually did the move, New Leaf was responsive and paid my claim promptly. I was very pleased that they stood by their work . They were also responsive throughout the process with other issues that arose which is all one can ask for since i doubt that there is any move without some problem occurring

   Less than one star!

   New Leaf provided a binding moving estimate with the option for a full refund of the down payment if cancelled more than five days prior to the scheduled move. We were to provide an updated inventory to New Leaf within the five day cancellation period. Several attempts to update the inventory went unanswered. Only after we were past the five day cancellation period did New Leaf respond, then the cost of the move increased by 50%! New Leaf advised that a 26-foot box truck would accommodate our move. A subcontracted mover arrived five hours late on the scheduled moving date. Driver informed us that an additional truck would be needed at additional cost. At that time, several calls to New Leaf provided no explanation or assistance. Driver was rude, threatened to leave without loading his truck. Finally he was able to load everything, however multiple items were damaged. Would not recommend using this company!

   Minus 0 stars!!! Try reading the B.B.B. this is the WORST company to do business with!!! They ARE NOT a moving company!! They are scammers that take your deposit and sell your contract to horrible moving companies. They do NOT care that you have had the worst moving experinece in your life. They lie saying they care when they don't. They DO NOT respond unless you go to the Better Business Bureau. Go to another REAL moving company and save your money! I wish I had done that.

   Hired Movers who stole Everything

   This is a BROKER, not a moving company, and unfortunately they can hire whatever moving company they want. They hired a company that doubled our estimate (which makes sense because we had more stuff, but when they only do a quote over the phone and don't see what you actually have, it makes sense why they're quoting you low). We waited for FIVE MONTHS for our stuff with so many excuses from the moving company, and no updates from New Leaf- I had to constantly call to try to get any info. Finally we were informed that the moving company STOLE EVERYTHING WE OWNED. This has been a ten month nightmare that we're still fighting. New Leaf gave us our $1400 deposit back, but other than that, we have gotten NOTHING. After months of doing nothing, they started trying to help us contact the mover (who has since gone out of business), but eventually he stopped talking to them and to us and we haven't been able to even get our refund for the move, let alone any compensation whatsoever for the $38,000 worth of stuff that we lost. Once he stopped responding to their calls and ours, New Leaf told us we had to 'pursue him on our own how we feel is best', and left us on our own to deal with him, even though he is not responding to us either. We have already talked to a lawyer who doesn't think it's worth the time and money it would take us (that we don't have) to sue him, because we could win the case, but if he's not payable, then he doesn't actually have to pay us anything. We would probably just lose more money. I can't believe that New Leaf has left us to deal with this on our own, even though their job as a broker is to be the middle man. When I said it was their responsibility to pay since they hired a scammer, they said New Leaf cannot pay anything for our loss. Do not hire a broker, and definitely don't hire New Leaf. They and the moving company have ruined our lives financially, emotionally and sentimentally forever.

   Bait and switch - broken items - drug use - Broker - STAY AWAY

   After an initial quote of $18k, we were charged over $39k!! We experienced negligent staffing, disorganization and unpreparedness, lack of professionalism, timelines, reliability and problem solving, and even illicit drug use. Six days before the move, New Leaf they called and told us we wouldn't fit in the size truck we ordered and pressured us to purchase additional space (that we did not need but paid for). Unloading our household items on August 2022 we found more than 20% of our items broken, many of which are our most precious items which have been collected over two decades from countries around the world. We had paid extra for special packing of our baby grand piano (arrived broken with instrument mangled and in pieces), our life sized terra cotta statue (arrived in irreparable pieces), custom sofa (frame broken in 4 places), bbq grill (crushed) and chandeliers busted as they were packed with no wrapping by last minute POST MY ADDRESS ON CRAIGSLIST helpers who were snorting cocaine from their phones in my garage! The entire experience was a nightmare. They will not respond to our calls and now are ignoring my lawyer. AVOID THIS BROKERAGE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. My husband and I have lived in four foreign countries and moved 14 times in 25 years both internationally and domestically. We have NEVER experienced a relocation as disastrous, mismanaged, and shocking as this one.

   Bait and switch tactics

   The initial quote was for $11.8k.Provided an incorrect inventory list and when I called it out, they said don't worry...the estimate is Binding and can't be changed. Now they're trying to charge $26k but already took a $5k cash deposit, holding me over hostage. they lie, very unprofessional. I've reported them to BBB (D rating) and Florida AG. DO NOT HIRE THEM! YOU WILL REGRET!

   Criminal- check fraud -

   Not only did they quote me at 9K and then ask for 21K and then finally did it for 18K after I gifted/left alot of furniture. The moving company that they contracted out One Stop Moving Company just committed check fraud by cashing the SAME check twice!!!! for over 6000 dollars once in September and once in January. and when I called NO answer, no answer to my emails either. I moved from CA to NM. The locals in New Mexico were great! One Stop Moving from Sacramento CA are the one's who committed check Fraud. AND they lost 2 of my boxes for the kitchen - bent my exercise bike and the wheels on my road bike were punctured and bent as well. My light box that was disassembled was never put back together and my bed frame was assembled incorrectly and 2 boxes of glassware arrived crushed. It was a horrible experience and they really took advantage, committed fraud and were awful, unfair and have really shady business practices. If anyone is suing them I would TOTALLY join the suit.

   Charged me $19.5k to move 1bd apartment

   This company started out great. Received my initial estimate about 6 months before the move for $6700. One week before the move date, I was contacted by their ‘quality assurance department’ and we reviewed the packing list. At this time I found out that my estimate was written completely wrong, left many of my items off, did not value their size correctly (a full size refrigerator was listed as a dormitory refrigerator), and even the packing materials list was lacking. I had made the decision to have the company pack for me based on the original quote and my second estimate from their quality department was nearly double the original estimate. By this time it was too late for me to really change anything and it was demanded that I make an additional $1k deposit that day on top of the nearly $2500 deposit I had already made or they would cancel my move and I would lose the initial deposit. Feeling I had no other choice, I made the additional deposit. Then 1 week later, the actual moving company (Blue Lion) showed up and that’s when it got even worse. The foreman walked around my 1 bd 1ba apartment and determined that the estimates I had been given were STILL too low and increased the price again. I will review that company and their handling of my items separately, but at the end of the day after the truck had been loaded, the foreman wrote what is supposed to be the final moving cost with full inventory which totaled $19.5k. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how the move could have possibly changed from $6700 to $19.5k and it still doesn’t make sense. My friends that are moving the same distance with 5+ bedroom homes are paying less than I am for my 1 bedroom apartment and the company just keeps telling me that I’d be paying so much more with anyone else. I’m now scared that my items won’t even be delivered when they’re supposed to and that if they are SOMEHOW they’ll increase the price again. I was bait and switched with the the initial estimate and the sales man who wrote it clearly did not write the initial on purpose in order to lure me in and even their quality assurance guy lied to me. I feel cheated, robbed, and now am lying awake at 3 in the morning feeling sick over how they’ve cheated me. I feel like I was given no choice in any of this and that no matter what they were out to steal my money. I’ll be updating this review if/when I receive my delivery.

   Stay away from these sharks!

   I decided to use the New Leaf Moving Group service for the transportation of my things from one city to another. While they agreed with me, they contacted me even after their business hours and on the weekend. They were very interested in me as a new client. All this was until I made a deposit of $1,000. When a few days later I wanted to make some changes in the service, because the number of my things changed and I wanted to change a truck size. They treated kind of rude and said that the truck was already scheduled (the service was planned in a month!) and there would be no price changes. I also want to note that I called 4 days after making the deposit. According to their policy, changes can be made after 3 days, but Monday was a holiday and I meant that this day wouldn't count as all businesses were closed. They didn't make any concessions for me and said either I go full price (full service cost $2700+) or I lose my deposit. They no longer showed interest in me as a client. In the end I was unable to lower the price and lost my $1,000 deposit. Stay away from these people!
